I just picked my Nc Frontier 12 up this past Saturday (1-25-14) and am pretty anxious to start rigging. I've learn, however, that its much better to take your time...don't start drilling random holes. So I'll be occasionally updating this thread with the latest rigging additions. I learned from the cup holder idea that event he smallest ideas can really excite people, so I'll be posting everything...no matter how small.

Thanks for indulging me. lol

Definitely offer up suggestions if you see a better way to do it.

Basic Rod and Camera Set up - Both in the freedom track. (Dog bone by Yak Attack for the camera mount)

The little thing that looks like a quarter...thats a super strong...ridiculously strong.....insanely strong...magnet. Great for holding lures, hooks, and tools in place.

I have a large tackle box that consist of 3 plano packs. Its a pain to store. Doesn't fit in the Black Pack and is never secured. So, I used a pad eye on one side of the BP with a length of bungee tied to it....tied a loop in the other end, and secured it to a ram ball mount screwed into the BP on the other side. Problem solved.

I had to come up with a way to secure the BP in the yak. Bungees are the easiest and cheapest route. You'll notice that its looped over a Ram Ball mount. Thats just to keep it out of the way when I'm getting in and out of the BP. If I didn't have a few extra's lying around, I would have used something less expensive.

Very nice, where exactly is that magnet located? Looks like you still have plenty of room to add "stuff"

Notice how shiny the rope is in the picture above vs how black it is in this one. It has reflective thread in the rope. Pretty cool. (small things amuse me.)

K&C - Welcome to the Frontier club! Great choice and looks like you and your green plastic are getting along very well. Join the Nucanoe forums too if you haven't already, lots of helpful rigging ideas there. I look forward to seeing your mods.

FYI, if you want a quick non-drill method to hold/lay down your rods, check out this simple foam DIY I made on my Frontier 10. Granted, my fly rod sits in the groove, but I am sure this would work with traditional rods too.

Good call on getting the Max 360 seat...that puppy is uber comfy and a huge upgrade to the normal swivel seat. I would also recommend getting the transport cart. The Frontier's run a bit heavy, the transport cart makes it easy.

I've been meaning to get a camera, so I might steal your camera mounting idea. grin

Thanks! I got here (the Nc family) as quickly as I could...seemed like it took forever though. I've definitely joined the NC forums...same handle there.

Thats a pretty clever rod holder. I might have to consider that one. thumb Do you think its secure enough to hold a Park N Pole? Thats something I'm having trouble figuring out a solution for. I can leash it into the paddle leash, but I really don't like anything in my paddle stroke.

As far as the Camera, I've got two more ideas.
1. Dog bone or the pan fish in the freedom track. (obvious)
2. Ram Ball mount on my Park n Pole. Allows for distance shots in shallow water.
3. Floating platform for a gopro.

I think what I'm going to do is use my cheap, orange PFD and attach a Styrofoam cooler lid to it. That will give me a floating platform. I'm going to take one of my GoPro mounts with the adhesive on the bottom, and attach it to the cooler lid. Attach a "leash" from the gopro to the PFD so it wont sink if something happens. The whole thing would be leashed to my anchor trolly. It would only work in calm waters, but I think it might lend its self to some cool video or pictures.

hmm...I don't think the foam block will be sturdy enough to hold the Park N Pole. The diameter of the PNP is thick, so not sure how much support the foam will provide. You could slide in under your seat since the Frontier deck is so wide open. I'll lay my rods there sometimes if I'm paddling a short distance.
