Thinking if buying a 2014 Raptor. Anyone on here have one or used one for towing their bass boat? Looking at pros and cons.

Gas hog... But besides that there bad a$$ truck. There one of the only few trucks my uncle ever hauled out of the rail yard to border patrol that they were ready to go off the truck, no suspension upgrades are any thing. He said that border patrol agents swear there the best off trucks you can get and the closet to a Baja truck you can get from the factory.

Im not a ford guy, but those trucks are AWESOME!!! +1, with that 6.2 it will tow you boat easily. If you do not need the off road capabilities I would not spend the money. Even if you do you can buy aftermarket stuff for less. As others said get ready to spend more on fuel. With that motor is going to be hard to drive with a light foot so can most likely toss the EPA numbers which are already low.

the suspension isn't set up for towing. it will pull it but if you tow a lot get the reg. half ton with the 6.2

the raptor will tow a bass boat just fine. Personally i wouldnt own one because of the limited towing and payload numbers.
Raptor Supercab 133" wheel base payload 980lbs, towing 6000
Raptor Supercrew 145" wheel base payload 1180lbs, towing 8000
They suck more gas than the regular F150's with the 6.2L V8 because the Raptor trucks come with 4.11 gears while the regular f150 with the 6.2L come with 3.73 gears.
If i was going to buy a truck with a 6.2L in it i would get the regular f150.
A supercrew 4x4 145 inch wheel base F150 with the 6.2 has a payload of 1860lbs and a towing cap of 11,100 lbs.
U can put 700lbs more in the bed and pull 3,100 lbs more.

Personally, I don't know anybody would opt for the 6.2L in a regular f150. The 5.0l would do the job OR you'd get a better deal on an ecoboost, which would do a similar if not better job towing than the 6.2l and get better economy.

How would you get a better deal on a ecoboost over a 6.2 liter? the ecoboost don't get all that great fuel economy towing either, 11-12mpg tops towing and most 4x4's get anywhere from 14-17mpg unloaded.

The Eco is much more common than the 6.2l. You dealer likely doesn't even have one on the lot.
And you're crazy if you think the 6.2l gets better economy.

You would get a better deal on an Eco boost over a 6.2L because they put the eco boost in alot of XLT models as an upgrade over the 5.0L. Most Lariats come with an Eco boost also. The 6.2L is only found primarly in Lariats and they are usually the decked out models. So as a result you can get a Ecoboost in a XLT for alot cheaper than a 6.2L in a top of the line Lariat. I really think Ford just made the 6.2L as a limited production option for the F150 because of those few folks out there that would shy away from a 3.5L v6 in a truck but wanted the max towing package. They really designed the 6.2L as an idea for the superduty trucks.

I would like to see what the difference in price is between two of the same trucks with a ecoboost in one and a 6.2 liter in the other
