Also, get a Baxter County map, you'll be glad you did. It shows all the public access points to the White. When you get up there pick up a copy of "Home Waters" at one of the local fly shops. It tells you all about the fishing at the different public access points.

I've had good results with a Little Cleo spoon through the years. Silver, 1/8 oz. Crank, crank, pause. They usually strike on the pause.

Is this the book? Those of you that have been, what is minimum amount of days needed to make a worth-wild trip? To get my Trout fix now I'll do a hellish 3am-6pm trip to Beavers Bend.

That's the book, it'll help you tremendously. I used to drive from Tyler to Mountain Home and spend three days there - a 7 hour trip. I'd fish in the afternoon when I got there, go check into the motel, go back to the river and fish until dark. Then I would fish all the next day. The third day I would fish a half day and then drive back to Tyler.

Except I found that I wouldn't start to relax until the afternoon of the second day. So I started staying four days and found out that was the perfect tome for me. After four days of wading in the river I was tired and ready to go home. I fished the White and Norfolk to my hearts content.

The important thing is to watch the generating schedule and learn how long it takes the river to start rising at the different access points after the generators are turned on. The local fly shops can tell you that. If the White is generating and not wadeable, then check the Norfolk and see if you can wade there. You can always rent a boat at the place at the corner of the White and Norfolk and fish from a boat if both rivers are generating. But fish the Norfolk from a boat, not the White if you are new to the rivers. The rivers can be very dangerous if you are not careful fishing from a boat.

There is a phone number you can call to find out the current generation level on the Little Red River. I suspect there is also a number to call for the dams on the White River as well. A bit of research, or call to a fly shop, can most likely find it.
That is a great book with excellent river charts.

I grew up trout fishing in Arkansas. It is a lot of fun and they are a good eating fish. Arkansas has a lot of very clear water and the streams are beautiful.
