Just wanted to share because if you are like me when it comes to spending money its like pulling teeth. Its just a piece of Aluminium that fish killer had and works perfect when I took the boat to squaw creek yesterday.

Same thing I did on my last boat that had Lowrance electronics. I'm like you, if I need to spend it I'll blow it like a drunken sailor in Thailand but if I can avoid it, it's staying in my wallet.

I'm a tight wad too and as long as it works than free makes it even better!

Looking at the pic it looks like the ducer might have a slight twist to it, if your images are better on one side of the graph than the other side that will be the reason why. If they are perfect now then disregard what I just wrote, just trying to help.

I just did something very similar. I've always had really poor imaging out of the side and down scan.

It was previously mounted directly to my jack plate with the transom bracket. This took me a couple of hours but the performance is night and day different!

I'd like for it to actually be slightly lower in an effort to have a cleaner image at a little higher speed, but this is much better than it was.

I too thought all that money was way to much for the jack plate mount, then for the bracket for the transducer itself.

This was about 40 bucks including all the stainless steel hardware.

All my images were great but I am still a noob when it comes to dialing in my structure scan I haven't even had it a year.
