As I have gotten older, I decided I would rather fish out a small stick steer than my "big bass boat" I wanted it to reliable and solid. Here is the result

I don't know, I have only gotten it to 30 mph and I felt like I was 7 feet out of the water.i got a good deal on it otherwise I would have gone with a 40 hp just could not find one.i was just looking for reliability .
Thanks for all the kind comments. By the way, the boat is a 1972 Gator that I spent weeks sanding, compounding, polishing and waxing.
Everything else is new.

Great job on the restoration - I have a 16 aluminum stick steer w 25 merc that we use on the coast and not having to move from the driver seat is a big plus vs a reg bass rig.

Wowzers! Great job. That's one sweet lookin' fish catching machine right there. Bet that 60 will make that thing skip across the water! Wear your lifejacket always!

Keep looking forward. That’s why windshields are larger than rear view mirrors.

Very good job. I started fishing with my dad out of a 14 Terry Bass with a 20 HP Johnson with stick steering.

I need two seats like the old ones you had on the boat before you restored it. Do you remember where you bought them?

Nice work Tubby, you are an inspiration! I too have a 21' fire breather bass boat and picked up a 1977 16' Bass Tracker a while back. I'm doing a refit on it now and just installed a stick steer. The 40 Merc runs ok, but I'm going to repower it as a reliability concern.
This thing will run 35 now and like you, it feels like you're 7' in the air! The hull is rated for 55hp so I'm going to hang a 50 Yamaha on it.
It sure is a fun boat to fish out of. And if I run into a log or a rock, eh, no worries!

Cheers,

George

Nice job. I'm with you on fishin out of a stick steer. Sure is nice to do it all from one seat as we get older. Mine is a one (previous) owner 71 skeeter hawk stick steer. Has the original 65 hp merc. I keep it in the boat house in the back yard and really enjoy fishin out of it. Put some "big man" chairs in it and fitted them with the old original skeeter armrests. Its like driving and fishing out of your easy chair in the living room.

For any of you that really enjoy the old classic style stick steer bass boats,
but don't have the time or ability to restore an old boat....
Pro Gator Boats still makes them.
