The river fishes small in April because everybody is crammed in the backwaters. People will spread out more in June fishing the main river and backwaters.

Each lake has it's pro's and cons's and fans. Since there is only one division for this area they have to consider the best participation. There is no way they can please everybody so they shoot for the largest number from past events.

Schedule looks good Mark. I like having one on the Red River. Will definitely be fishing again next year.

Hahahaha to all of the above....

I think this is the best schedule they can produce that gives them a chance at making it in Texas with all of the other trails as Mark mentioned. I think they do a great job, these are very well run tourneys with a shot at the big time if you are good enough.

It's far enough away that I can't make all of them but I still commend them and Mark more importantly for trying as hard as they do. We should be VERY GLAD that he would even come on a public forum and even entertain our thoughts much less make a change to the schedule based on what we say ( red river) keep it up mark!!!!

I wonder how many of the DFW guys would show up and fish ALL of them if the schedule was:
Eagle Mountain
Lake Worth
Eagle Mountain
Lake worth

Championship on: GRAPEVINE.

The east is where the money is at for them and its a business.

Did u really compare basschamps to bfl? The good thing about it is u don't have to fish them does basschamps offer u the chance to fish in flw cup?

Also, there will be a BFL regional championship on Sam Rayburn in October 2014. Obviously, the Cowboy division can't fish it but you can fish either the Arkie or Okie divisions to fish it. It's a no entry fee tournament where we'll give away a Chevy Silverado pick up and a fully rigged Ranger boat to the boater winner and another fully rigged Ranger boat to the co angler winner. The top six boaters and co anglers will advance to the BFL All American and compete for $100,000 on the boater side!! Just something to keep in mind.

good schedule mark. I will be there. Think what a lot of dfw guys are saying is yes they want to fish Rayburn & Toledo but break it up. I know their great draws but competition and finances are hard on the ones who aren't regulars on those lakes. Dont get me wrong I love it,right in my backyard, but whoever mentioned pines was right its a good draw and a great lake, just small; although it held an Everstart just fine with very low water last year.
I'd have to throw Cedar Creek in as far as good draws go, its plenty big and always gets good numbers in tourneys, centrally located and is very tournament friendly.
You did a great job this year Mark and I appreciate FLW for having good directors like yourself and Ron Lappin. Ya'll have tough jobs and just remember, no matter how hard you try, your never gonna make everyone happy!!! You try - you do your best - and you care about your customers, even when they are complaining; That's very respectable. see ya in 2014

The Bws isn't gone just because Bass isn't involved. It's my understanding that its the same, except having the slim chance to go to classic.
I like this schedule for the Cowboy Div. ...It sounds great and I hope it stays like this for the people in east tx and Louisiana as well.
There's trails all over Texas ...We choose where we live....just fish one thats close to you.

This hit the nail on the head. You look at how many anglers from DFW are in these tournaments and then look at how many from east texas and LA will travel to DFW to fish the same tournament(when there is already a tournament in their backyard). My guess is numbers would drop drastically.

If Cedar Creek or similar was on the schedule in place of one Rayburn I'd consider fishing it. It's disappointing as I've always wanted to fish the bfl just can't justify the expenses and time to travel to east Texas once a month (possibly twice to Pre fish). Every one seems wants to bash the DFW guys for not showing up but I looked at the June bfl and it only had 90 boats anyway. This trail should be getting 150 boats. I know it's difficult to please everyone but I still think there's a better solution out there.
