So I said, "I'm not interested in 5%, I want the 3%." He says,"Sorry, that's all I can do." I say," You mean to tell me you'd throw away a guaranteed sale over one point? One point to you, $1000 to me over the life of the loan?" He says,"Sorry."

This attitude begs the question... have they ever given someone this rate? Or is it just a scam?

Our business is boat loans. The boat sales person has nothing to do with a rate given by a bank. Especially at a place like BPS who uses Tracker Finance to run the paper. We run into posted rate questions all the time. Some banks even require you to have a savings or checking account to get the rate. The general thought is that most people will take the higher rate offered. We have not done a scientific study but I bet less than 5% of the applicants actually end up with the teaser rate. Hard to believe but when I started in the boat business (1984) we were selling boats at 12.5% variable interest. I know times are very different but the general rates offered now are really good.
Thanks,
Ken

I got a question for ya. Why is it with a credit score of 700 and you wanting a 35,000 new boat, and I am paying 12,000 down that no one wants to take the note. I think the credit score deal is a crock. If you don't owe much they wont touch you and if you owe too much they wont touch you.

We wish this loan business was more "cut and dry" or "black and white" than it ends up being. One part of all this is the credit bureaus and how they handle information. Did you happen to see that Experian just lost a law suite for $18.6 million for not fixing an error they made in someones credit. It might be interesting to watch the fall out from this. Loan approvals are always a moving target. Debt to income, credit card debt, provable income...... Several things all come into play.
Let us know if we can help.
Ken

Sweet! Just found my lottery ticket. Experian has my birthday listed as 1806. Found that out years ago but never bothered to jump through their retarded hoops to get it changed.

US Bank - The only bank in the nation worse than Bank Of A and that puts it way down in the dung heap.

Experian are pricks, just my honest opinion. If you were born in 1806 that would make you the worlds longest living person.. Congrats... Lol...ha

Credit score, job time, debt to income, high credit, credit depth...how long have you had credit and many other measurements determine the loan outcome.

Negative, an 800 is a phenominal score but it's not perfect. My mom has an 830. When I bought my last truck she was with me and her score is 100 points better than mine. She ended up getting the loan through her credit union because although my rate was good, she said "let me try" and her 830 was worth another 2 points. The guy seriously looked at her and said "tell me what rate you'd like to pay" hahaha.

People have them, not a lot but very responsible people are that high.

I wanted the 2.9% rate for five years. They turned my down for five years but offered to finance the boat for 12 years.

I turned them down and went with the credit union for 0% down, five year term. It cost me 0.5% more but I got the terms I wanted so it was worth paying a little more interest.

I bought my new SUV for 0% down, 2.9% for five years last year so I knew my credit was good.

I generally pay everything off faster than the loan term so I also insist on no prepayment penalties, with that bank did not want to offer.

So it appears they want long term loans, which doesn't make sense, given the low interest rate.

I was @ the FLW last week and went by to look @ new Skeeters @ H & W and swung by BPS to see the Nitro's and this is what I saw on a Z8 and Z9. These boats were pretty much rigged with what is standard equipment on a ZX Skeeter of comparable size, not what comes on a Nitro as standard equipment..so by the numbers I was given @ H & W I could have a Skeeter for the same money.

There are some big changes that need to be made to the credit reporting industry. The information in your credit reports has become too important to let the 3 companies get away with what they do. First of all you should be able to get your score without paying and that score should not be different than the ones creditors use. I had a fairly decent experience with 2 of the companies recently. The ex had listed me as a authorized user on a card and she defaulted on it. I got it off the reports fairly easily but the sales pitches started immediately. I have another issue with them that I need to clean up too. They have me moving to a new address every time the ex does. Since I have not bought anything from them we will see how this clean up goes. 60 minutes had a good little piece on the industry last week.

Know what you mean I bet there is a 60 point spread between all 3 credit scores and the score the creditors use for me........Crazy!
