FYI - Martin Lake, Rusk County, last week a woman contracted a flesh eating bacteria while swimming. She had a small open sore from a mesquito bite. Doctors say it's not as uncommon as you think during summer when the water is hot and little to no current. Both fresh and salt water. Might want to be mindful of any open sores if fising power plant lakes during hot weather.

Vibro is no joke. There are actually a lot of cases in Texas every year. It is most common with people that have weak immune systems, but that is in no way the only people effected.

2coolfishing.com has lots of really good info about vibro.

When I lived out in Hawaii we had to be careful for Leptospirosis. Talk about something you don't want to mess with. Just reading about the symptoms made me think twice about cutting my line with my teeth!

Last summer a guy had his arm amputated only a few hours after getting a small cut on the neches in Beaumont.

Last Summer posted about someone that lost his leg from the knee down fishing saltwater. Years back know of a person who took his sons to Lake Sommerville and his swimming in the shallow stagnant water, his youngest (according to doctors) got a flesh eating bacteria from water in his ears,..it went into his brain. Within a week He and his exwife had to make the decision to pull the plug. PLEASE BE EXTRA EXTRA CAREFUL-KEEP PEROXIDE OR EVEN BLEACH WITH YOU WHILE FISHING!!
Not sure if this link will work,..if so just food for thought.
