Ive got a 2010 nitro Z8 with a Pro XS 250 and a 25 Fury prop. It does good by myself but if you add my partner it gets sluggish and if you add full live wells you wonder if you'll ever plane out. What's going on? Any ideas?

I would call Steve's Custom Props, because he knows his stuff. He can get you fixed up.

Z8 with a 250 Pro XS being pushed by a 25p Fury should launch like a rocket with 4 200lb people in it. I would be checking the hull for water. Then have motor checked out.

Do you have a jackplate? What is your propshaft height? You could be experiencing something that can be remedied by some setup adjustments. What top speed are you getting and what rpm at WOT?

According to Mercury the Fury is designed to run without the PVS plugs and they do not come with any not even new in the box.

It's got a 10" jackplate, at 6000-6100 RPM it'll do 75mph with just me and 72 with 2 people. My prop is a little dinged up but I had these problems from when the boat was new. I used to get 74-75 with 2 people and about 78 by myself

if the problem has been since new I would check to make sure it has the correct transom vent which breaks suction from the bottom of the boat while planning. it should have a 1.5 in thru hull fitting on the step under the transom. Some of them had 1.0 in fittings and would not plan. If you replace or add the 1.5 in thru hull fitting you will also need to use 1.5 in hose and vent it into the live well or if you have a thru hull fitting already on the port side gunwall at the stern. Call me if you need help and I'll try and explain it all more clearly.

Based on what I have seen around the web on other Z8's with the 250 almost all are running 26p Furys on the 250. Might be worth trying one to see how it does.

I have seen jack-plates with a closure on their bottom side for this.

A PLATE UNDER THE JACK PLATE WILL KEEP WATER FROM PILEING UP IN FRONT OF IT BUT i'M BETTING THAT THE ROOT CAUSE IS THE TRANSOM VENT IS THE WRONG SIZE OR NOT THERE. i'VE SEEN IT A COUPLE OF TIMES AND A .50 IN DIFFERANCE MAKES ALL OF THE DIFFERANCE.
