Well finally started to calm down and get over my events from Wednesday.
I went out to Lewisville Lake Park Wednesday afternoon and went down and fished the dam. Fish started busting the top hard off and on for about 45 mins and I had them all to myself. After things calmed down I ended up with 7 good sized sandies on my stringer, all on topwater slabs.
I contiuned working the same area and got about 3 other sandies and as things started dying down I decided to troll a #4 mepps out to deeper water and as I was doing thatI was trying to put the rest of the sandies stringer. Right as I untie the stringer and it's loose from the yak my rod starts screaming. I'm able to hold the stringer in my mouth and reel in a hybrid that's a little over 25". Well some where in the process of getting the hybrid in the boat and taking it's picture I some how losose grip of my stringer and lose all the fish.
Unfortunately this wasn't the bad part of the trip. I contiued messing around in the same part where the drop off is and end up getting an additional 5-10 sandies, a 20" hybrid, and 2 23" hybrids. This whole time I'm easily outfishin the big boats and non of them are even coming within 50 yards of me.
Well one of the big boats sees I'm doing pretty decent and decides to drive right over where I've been fishing. I figure it's no big deal because it looks as though the fish are heading out deeper anyways. So, I decided to make my way out into the deeper water right as I get out there around about 4 other boats the fish start going nuts on the topwater all around us, it looked like mostly hybrid. I caught my first one out there and it was about 21-22" and I went to release it as i did it flopped out of my hand and just floated on it's side. Since I didn't want it to die I tried to hurry up and grab it to try to revive it. Being an idiot Ireached out to far and in slow motion I could see the water start coming over the side of the yal. Next thing I know I'm the water and my PA is updside down. I was able to flip it back over and get back in fairly easily. In the end I ended up losing 2 rods, my phone, and drowning my ff. The ff finder is still at home sitting in a bag of rice so I'm not sure yet if it's shot or not, my guess is it's shot.

Dang, you had some great fishing till you went swimming. I'm surprised your ff was affected by the water. Did you have an inline fuse that could have gone bad? The rice trick saved my phone last winter. I had to leave it in there for 4 days but works great ever since. Were you in a PA14 or 12? Sorry for your misfortune...

Oh, and make sure to buy some rod floaties. They work really well to keep your combos floating while you get back in...

Ya I've heard that pipe insullation works exactly the same as the road floats that are sold. I've just been dumb and lazy and haven't put them on to try. What happened with the fish finder is that water was in the actual head unit itself. It's just a little portable one where the tranducer suction cups to the side of the yak. I'm actually surprised the suction cup held and I was able to retrieve my head unit.

Well damn, that was sounding like one helluva fishing trip until the turtling.

Dude, as I was reading I thought to myself, "losing a stringers isn't really that bad if you're slaying them..." Then I got to the part where you went in the drink. That sucks!
Glad your safe even if your stuff isn't...

Striped/white/hybrid bass fishing is always so fast paced and chaotic. One second everything is dead calm, and the next, all hell breaks loose.
The last time I was out chasing sandies I ran into all kinds of trouble. It's just part of that particular game. Don't feel bad.
Great job, by the way. A decent handful of hybrids isn't easy to come by in the kayak.

Glad you are okay too! I've fallen off of my yak with no where near that good of an excuse. Hopefully the big boat fellows were helpful.

That is a rude awakening plus to lose valuable gear. Try boga grips that little extra reach makes a world of difference and keeps those hooks away from the fingers. Glad you came out unharmed rods and gear can be replaced you can't!

And only around $70 bucks if you loose one.
