If you have had issues with sickle hooks please post color of hook, size, cast or not cast and if they had a cast head, please pm me the supplier that you received the poured heads from we here at Crazy Angler try to provide the best products possible, though we do purchase our hook products from other manufactures. We just received 1/4 million hooks in yesterday and some failed stress test. This had been brought to our attention by a customer on the forum, this post is not intended to beat down any one head supplier, but I need data to present to the hook manufacture to resolve this issue that comes and goes.I, like all the other manufactures in north America, base their business on quality products and if a issue persist from sub tier suppliers,My company will have no choice but, to discontinue the use of these products. My goal as a business owner is to always put quality 1st and this data, that you P.M. me will only be presented to the hook manufacture.

Thank You
CrazyAngler

Robert, I feel like sickle hook issues are not with suppliers as much as the manufacturer. As far as I know, Matzuo is the only company making the sickle hooks used in crappie jig tying. Even though their quality control has improved a lot from years ago, it still is not the best. You can get a batch of hooks with little problems for a while and then get a batch with problems. With no competition, I doubt Matzuo takes it too seriously. It's a shame, they could do a lot better on quality.

I have never broken a hook on the main hook or bend but I have broken several of the eyes when cleaning out paint.

Thank each of you that called and e-mailed or PM'ed us it seems this problem is with several head manufactures with black nickle being the culprit and a few red and bronze issues. Will be talking to the President of the company tomorrow. With that being said we've already had a new hook line in the works,by a well known manufacture,as our own new custom line of hooks. The start up cost is quite large, but it will pay in the long run and we will be the sole supplier, were targeting the launch date for the fall of 2013,we will be changing the super pro walleye heads to bronze hooks and all other heads to bronze hooks till this problem is solved,or our new hook line release's.The head change over will be next week the existing heads we have in stock will be sold at clearance price.I can only speak for our company and our products, we will not sacrifice quality for price.

Thank You and thanks for all of the input I hope other suppliers take heed to this issue and act accordingly.

I bought 500 black sickle hooks and 800 super pro walleye jig heads from Crazy Angler recently. I did notice that some poured heads are not up to the quality. But the main issue is the strength of the hooks. When we were fishing at the barge few days ago, we lost two hybrids due to the breakage of the hooks. The hooks were broken at the "barb". I ordered over 1000 black sickle hooks (same size) from another supplier before. I did not have this type of issues.
Thanks for your inquiry.

Will you be offering minnow head styles in that line?
