Was down ten miles below whitney dam and three miles down from my house .When the water running from dam got to us probally 1200cfs . We had to paddle three miles up current . Fun

I put in one time at point 8 on whitney in feb and went around to cedar creek to fish.And when i was going back the wind had picked up and i had to make the turn at point 8 in 25mph winds .It was a scary ride surrounded by 30 foot cliffs and freezing water and whitecapes .

The famous "Wind Tunnel" experience on Tawakoni a few years ago. Had to be 30 mph winds and a few miles back to camp. there are certain people Rev TCF and I don't venture out into the water with anymore, LOL.

Sounds like scary fun

I was kayaking with my 14 year old son at Lake Lavon, Highland Park to be exact. I was drifting along in the timber and my son was trying to catch bass and crappie along the brush by the shoreline. He gave up after about an hour of paddling back and forth so he starts paddling out to where I was at. He was in a clearing before the timber and a guy in a bass boat comes flying around the corner at full speed heading right at him. I start yelling at the top of my lungs but all I could do was watch. My son starts paddling backwards as fast as he could and the boat zips by him what seems like inches. They missed each other and I paddle out to my son who says to me,You see that a--hole.. I start laughing out of relief and disbelief of his comment. But I totally agreed with him. That guy in the boat never let up and just kept on going without a care in the world. I had all kinds of thoughts that I wanted to do after that moment but I was just happy it did not. That was my scariest moment and hopefully it stays that way.

I went over Dolan Falls when the river was up.

My first time kayak fishing was on the white river in Missouri it was a 12 mile paddle but we lost track of time because the fishing was so great. Ended up having to paddle six miles straight as fast as we could to beat the dark. The whole way I thought I kept hearing the sound of a banjo and guitar in the woods along the river.

Fishing Lake Fort Phantom in 20 mph wind and gust over thirty! It was fun at first as the white caps came over the front of the yak, but got tiresome and scary fighting the wind back to the shore for the truck! Dr. Hart has pics.

I heard a story that you should not go camping out at denton creek above grapevine . I had a friend that did and he wont go back.He had the voices of what sounded like a crowd of people .He packed up his stuff and paddled back at 3am with voices following him. Ill do a post scariest ghost story while doing a float camping trip.

I sayed will take your camera and see if anything happens and will put it on utube .Will get some good views if it happens again.

LOL, it wasn't on purpose. River was flowing pretty good and I tried to make it to the left side to take out and couldn't get stopped. Lost a few things but it was an awesome rush.

I lost a dog the river started running and he just floated by the take out.He was a good dog probaly floated down to waco.He wouldnt stay in the john boat , i advised him too.

Bal Harbor, Florida, Haulover Inlet. Its really hard to tell from the picture (above) how freightening these waters were unless you were in them. This was only picture taken as I put camera away in waterproof bag as soon as this picture was taken to get ready for what lay ahead. It got so much worse. Very narrow inlet, outgoing tide against incoming 10 to 15 winds. I went back there last year just to walk along the jetty to see what it looked like and take some pictures under similar conditions as it was years earlier. Hope this makes sense as I try to explain. The next picture below is looking back towards where I would have been coming from on my paddle out that day to fish offshore. Notice how calm the water looks from 10 feet above water and under bridge.

This picture taken after walking 150 yards on down jetty from bridge and as close to I can tell from where I took picture from kayak. I was approximately 50 yards away from jetty as I didn't want to interfere with jetty fishermen.

I'm not even going to go into detail about my early return from offshore against the still outgoing current. I made it back with no mishaps but never again.

I want to offshore kayak fish sometime.I think they take you out twenty miles in boat and then you just put your kayak in the water.I saw a video on utube about it they were catching cobia.
