41 days after isolating the superworms, 90% of them pupating, 2 dying, 3 still in worm form...

I have my first beetle!

If you breed superworms - remember - isolation and no water/food until they become beetles!

cool... So will they stay a worm until they die if you don't isolate them? So now that you have beetles how long until they are laying eggs?

Superworms will not pupate unless you isolate them. You also have to move your beetles to new beds every two weeks or else they will eat their young! I had 4 more beetles today and the females will produce 300 to 500 eggs in their lifetime.

Superworms are a superior bait than regular mealworms if but only for the size of fish you will catch. Even if you don't want to raise them I suggest sunny fisherman buy some at their local Petsmart to experiment with.

Gitter - no, the beetles will lay eggs which will turn into Superworms. Here is a good pic that compares a meal worm and a superworm (not my pic).

Cool...It would be really easy to manage how many you raise and they stay bait until they get isolated. One of the problems with regular mealworms, is that you have to use them while in the larva stage or you miss out and they become beetles.

I agree. I am constantly pruning my mealworm colony. Superworms tend to last much longer and won't pupate until you isolate them. Mealworms will breed like cats.

Its not about how deep you can fish but by how you wiggle your worm

Yes, Petsmart. Ask for 'superworms' not giant mealworms.

5 bucks for 50.

These beetles are quite big. My wife don't like em' too much.
