I am looking for a kayak trailer that I can still haul camping equipment and fishing gear on. looking to spend around 500. I haven't had much luck looking on craigslist. I have to have one that will fit in a one car garage also.
Anyone on here have one that they would sell? or know of one for sale?

I like your trailer build only problem is, I would have to modify it a little more than I would like to get it were I want it. But I have been considering those trailers and the ones at harbor freight.

I've got a nice one that I built for sale. All enclosed except kayak rack.Has a rod box, storage area.I enclosed the bottom to sleep in.Has windows and a fan in that area.Has a battery and all compartments have built in lights.Brand new tires, still have the titties on them.Battery is wired to charge off your vehichle when going down the road.I've got a lot of money and time in this trailer but would take $1000.Not sure how to post pictures but can e-mail them.
Thanks James

I was on my way to buy a harbor freight trailer when I bought the galv. from Academy. I fish salt most of the time. If were to modify one again...I would use 3. or 4 inch PVC. That way they would double as rod. etc. storage. Rich

jigginjj That is more than i am looking to spend but email me the pics anyways and ill see if I fall in love or not. ncamfield@yahoo.com
richg if i go that route I will get the harbor freight trailer. If I ever make it to the salt I doubt I would go more than once a year. The pvc for rod storage is a good idea but I would still have to rig something up to carry a cooler and tackle at least. The camping gear can always for in the tahoe if it has to.
What I really want is something fairly small, be able to haul at least 2 kayaks and at a minimum be able to carry all my fishing gear as well as rods and a cooler.

Careful with the harbor freight trailers, I bought a used folding utility trailer that I was going to convert for kayaks and it says in the manual not to exceed 45 mph. I am not sure if this is a safety suggestion or actual speed rating so I am not taking chances with it. Nice thing is if you set it up to fold it folds up in to a 4'x2' rolling configuration for storage. I have pretty much decided when I have the extra cash laying around I am going to use a buddies welding shop and make one to my specs.
If you are interested in buying it and trying to make it in to what you want PM me, 1195lb capacity 4'x8' with wood deck already installed.

Bert thanks for bringing that up! I just looked on the web sight at the speed rating and im not sure if thats a suggested speed or what but I would think it has something to do with the 12" tires. I might just stay away from those. Thanks for the heads up

Well after looking its not the tires that would give it a 45mph speed rating. The Load index and Speed rating on the 12" tires that harbor freight trailers come with have a 71M rating. That translates to 761 lbs and a 81 mph speed rating. That is about the same as a donut on a compact car.

I bought a 14' trailer that I converted to a kayak trailer last summer. I'll be selling it sometime this year to get a Rack-N-Roll trailer. I have $400 in it right now with new tires and wiring. She's not finished but she is a very solid trailer and useable as she sits right now.
