Is there a such thing as a speed limit on a lake?

I had a buddy said he got a warning by game warden for speeding on Joe Pool.....

No, unless posted no wake. Just remember you are responsible for any damages caused by your wake.

I do not think so in Texas unless specified at a certain location. I am pretty sure there is a speed limit in Florida.

Really?

What determines the speed limit

I wonder during Monday thru Friday in the mornings and evening you have to observe School Zones on the lake

But seriously, Sounds like a Barney Fife Wannabe GW

Should of got his name and called his supervisor and informed him of this

Some lakes like Arlington have a speed limit. All others it is up to the GW if you are operating at a prudent speed for the conditions.

I have feared for years that the nanny state would look at boating and start to clamp down on speed limits and license to drive a boat. I hope it does not happen, but in these days of more and more government, it would never surprise me.

If you watch Bass Champs, Calamont and his partner got a warning for going to fast before official sunrise. So they can stop you

Yep. Lake Arlington has a posted speed of 25MPH. Arlington PD keeps lake officers on the water during higher traffic times...with radar! Actually the only one I've been on with an actualy speed limit. All others I've seen have just been posted "No Wake".

Been around the block a few times and haven't heard of speed limits on the lake except for "no wake zones". Private lake perhaps but on Texas public waters no. Never been to Lake Arlington.

Conroe has a "planeing speed" only limit 30 minutes after sunset to 30 minutes before sunrise.
