I've been planning a trip down there since November and booked everything have a friend coming down from Denver to fish the famous falcon lake. We are headed there the last weekend in February. Do y'all think the fishing will improve by then or should we jump ship and do Amistad instead. All of these bad reports are making me nervous.

Don't know if you don't go. It could turn with some warm water.

I just cancelled my trip I had scheduled in February... It's one of those things, you might only catch 6 during a weekend trip, but one of those 6 just might be your personal best! Odds of catching bigger fish, greater at falcon and odds for catching numbers, probably better at Amistad...

I'm scheduled to go down from Jan. 26th- Feb. 1st. We contemplated going to a different lake. Our contact down there said the fishing is tough, 6-10 bites a day but he is still catching a few really good fish. The extended forecast shows some warm weather and the full moon is next weekend. With those factors I still think falcon will be our best chance to catch a really big fish. I can't help but think as the water warms up the fishing will also. The fish haven't all left and they still have to eat and spawn. Hopefully I'm not proven wrong. I will post a report when we return.

+1 -- we've got 2 days with 10# or bust set up for next weekend. The fishing has nowhere to go but up.

Jay has been out scouting on some new territory all week and will locate some quality fish for you if at all possible. He works his tail off trying to locate the good areas to fish. He has his Ranger back now.

Do I think it will improve? Sure.....trust me it ain't gonna get any worse. 6-10 bites for 2 people sounds legit......mind you I have a few terrible weather days where we were after 1 bite. Keep an eye on the Everstart results from Amistad. If they are all popping 25 lb stringers, head there. I firmly believe that ain't happening either. Over the past 2 weeks I've heard or seen 3 12's caught, 2 11's and 3 10's here on Falcon. Mind you NONE have been out of my boat and it is a straight up lottery right now here. Come on down and get ya a Falcon scratch off, you might just be the next big time winner like this guy.

GL wherever ya head :-)

Start studying the lake and get your game ready!@!

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

I hope it gets better for y'all, that is a lot of miles for a few bites.

I am sure there are other options for you if those 2 lakes don't turn on.

Lewisville should be on at that time. I'm a huge Falcon fan, but I can't see myself going down there for a couple of bites a day. When water comes back, I will, too. I also think Falcon is your best choice for a PB, though.
