Raul and I fished the last mile or so of the Yegua. I don't usually fish much below the three mile mark at Wolf Pond but today we made a point of finding fish in the first deep holes up from the lake.

Fished yesterday as well and ended with 2 whites and 1 LMB. Looks like we may be about a week early still.

The fishing should improve through the weekend if the warming trend continues.. Birch creek Park shoreline should be producing whitebass anytime now..

Hiked in from Birch creek...that is a hike and a half...My buddy did real well...caught freshwater drum, crappie, channel cat, and this one gigantic carp...definitely not walking in from that far again...anyone know an easier way?

Wolf pond is three miles from the trailhead at Birch creek and about the same distance from Newmans bottom whether by trail or through the woods. You probably didn't see any other bank fisherman but I'll bet you saw plenty of kayakers.. the Yegua is tough fishing from the bank no matter where you are fishing.

A whole other world opens up to the kayak fisherman and at today's prices you can find a decent fishing kayak for about 250.00.

Who all is fishing the creek Saturday? We are having a fish fry late afternoon after the event at the Nails creek park pavilion near the boat ramp. Bring in some of what you catch and we will fry it up for you!... wink

I'll probably have a kayak fishing clinic next and will be looking for helpers. Start early AM head up the Yegua fish like crazy paddle back to the Park Pavilion and have a late afternoon fish fry of what we catch that day.. Maybe make it a TFF/TKF/State Park joint venture. Any interest out there???
