I usually like drifting in the winter---however anchoring at times is just as important. Whats a good anchor set up for deeper water areas that are holding fish. Are you all using box anchors and how heavy--and also are you doing one anchor up front or multiple and what positions preferred. HF

box anchors. The weight is not necessarily the most important part. The design of the box anchor is key

I reverse anchor. The boat has a much better ride over the swells vs. front anchoring. However, you need a high dead rise on your transom to do this.

Both Box Anchors out the front one to each side making a "T" is the best way I have found, no swaying either! This Set-Up will only work with Box Anchors, other anchors don't set quick enough!

good lord those are some high dollar anchors Not really, get you some 3" X 1/4" Flat Bar, Make your Box 12" X 12" and your Tabs 3-4" long and add about a 1'0 length of chain to tie off to, if you have a friend that is a welder, maybe you can take him fishing to pay for him for welding the anchor.

You need around 150 ft of rope on one and a hundred on the other so you can pull them tight!

How far apart are the anchors? It depends on how deep, In 40' of water, if it is pretty rough, drop one anchor out, I'm going to say the right one, then back across the wind till you have about 150' of rope out and drop the left anchor, then pull yourself back to about the middle and tie one side off to your front cleat, then pull the other rope tight, pull kind of easy because you are pulling against the other anchor but pull it tight, once you get it tight, the nose of the boat should turn and be facing directly into the wind and your ropes should be cross wind on both sides and tied to the front cleats on oposite sides of the boat, it takes a little practice to get directly across the wind, but it will not hardly sway. The deeper and rougher it is the more rope you need to put out, I even use the same set up in shallow water instead of poles, because I don't want to cary poles in the fiberglass boat, but you don't need much line out, in 5'0 of water I may have 15' on each side if it is pretty calm. When you get the anchors set, you should be able to go to the front of your boat and stand between the cleats and put your arms out right over the cleats and you should be pointing towards the anchors, and the wind should be in your face.
