Bob...I spoke to the game officer over there this fall and he said the levels of pollutants in the fish and lake are getting closer and closer to being acceptable---however it is still not safe to eat them. Years ago all the muck from those airport runways and jet fuel was draining into the lake from the base over there. I am suprised there arent any mutant catfish with five eyes in the lake with double dorsal fins!

they changed the ban to consumption advisory last year or yr before and just recently said sandbass and crappie (fish with shorter life spans) are ok to eat....but I ain't eating them.....
but there was one old man a few times who took my catches and I said they have PCBs and cause cancer and he said "He77 I already got cancer so i'll eat them.."

Did you notice that they didn't say anything about white bass?

DSHS did not find elevated levels of contaminants in samples of common carp, freshwater drum, largemouth bass or white crappie collected from Lake Worth.

I just don't understand why this topic keeps coming up. If you fish Lake Worth you are within 1 hour of a dozen lakes that DON'T have a consumption ban. With all the [censored] that gets in our bodies from processed food, air and water why would you want to add to that by eating fish that are known to have dangers. I guess we can consider it natural selection.

Its a conspiracy!!!!!!!! the only way they could turn a Metro lake into a trophy maker is to make up something about the polution in the water and fish! I say eat what ever you want! We are all going to die eventually and only God knows when. IMHO....a few slightly tainted catfish filets are not going to make much of a difference! flush barf thumb
