Went out yesterday, and caught 47 big slabs between a friend and I. All were caught in the river my best colors were solid chart pink and solid chart. There were people jigging and catching some good one, but the secret was double rigging curl tail grubs about a foot apart and letting the lure hit bottom them slow rolling. Reeling so slow it almost hurt, but that was tha trick. As soon as I figure out how to post pictures I'll post.

I've never fished creeks or rivers in the winter for crappie. Mind sharing how deep the water you were fishing?

Thankyou for the advise pepop, as for depth pisca the deepest part of the hole I'm fishing on the river is about 15 foot on one side then tapers up to about 2 to 3 fow. I've been sitting in the shallow end and casting deep, I wait about 15 seconds until the lure bottoms out then just reel slow and when I mean slow I mean slow, when they hit it almost feels like you bumped into some brush but its a big slab. Hope this helps, also I'm using 1/8 oz jig head at the top and about a foot down I'm using 1/16 jig head and they hit both lures.

Thanks for sharing Bassman. It's hard enough for me to figure out where they are in one lake and then move to another lake and start covering water all over again. Now Ketchn and are I are talking rivers and creeks. Too many places to fish, not enough time!

I got the Trinity right next to me here in Irving, I wonder what the contamination level is at. If its low I might just wet a line there...

The Elm Fork has a clean bill of health, the west fork, coming from fort worth, has a consumption ban on fish.
