Winter is finally here on Fork and it couldn't come soon enough for me! December has been a very good month here and its only going to get better. I love the cold weather fishing because its the best time to catch a giant fish. A look at the biggest bass caught in Texas and the months they were caught makes it clear that January and February offer a good chance for double digit fish. Make no mistake about it, this is not the time to attempt to have big numbers days. It is the quality of the fish that make this such an exciting time for me. The Christmas cold front really brought the water temps down. I'm seeing 47-51 degree water. I expect it to continue dropping gradually. The fish haven't seemed to mind much, although the drop has relocated them. I remember having great days in 2011 when the water was 37 dgrees and areas of the lake were frozen, so I don't let the cold water discourage me.

Ahhh the joys of youth. I dont know about you Billy but my bloods gettin thin and I got parts that hurt on cold days. But I will be casting a jig tomorrow myself at Lake Tyler.
