Yea, the storage owner's response sounds a bit off base, like possibly he's in cahoots with someone else. Just thinking out loud here but ...............

I'm in CS too and will keep an eye out for your boat. I am also curious as to where it was being stored. Unfortunately in the state of Texas, self storage owners are NOT REQUIRED to carry insurance for their tenants stored items. This is strictly the responsibility of the tenant.
If you are willing to share the name of the facility, I will take a drive through neighborhoods close by. More than likely it was stolen by another tenant or someone that lives close by and knew it was in the unit.

The name of the storage facility was Welch Brother Electric and Storage. As far as I know, there wasn't anyone who knew that it was there with all my gear. Someone had to have seen me putting it up, or followed me there on Monday (last time I saw it). It was the only storage unit hit in the complex. Thanks again to everyone looking out for it.

I have been hunting Craigslist for you, seems stupid that people would steal and resell back on Craigslist but you would be surprised how many people have recovered stolen goods from there!

How does your contract read that you signed with the storage unit ? Most read they are not responsible for any loss- it all depends on the contract that you signed as to the legal remedies and your recorse to recover

He's good as long as he has full-coverage, it could take a while to settle the claim though. I keep mine stored and up-date the policy frequently on the personal property coverage, G-Loomis rods are expensive and should be endorsed properly.
