I saw these at Cabelas on sale and was wondering if anybody had tried them. They have the Winn wrap on the handle and looked like a decent rod. Any thoughts? Thanks for any info.

A buddy of mine uses Tour Star Rods and had good reviews to say on them. I actually ordered my first Tour Star 2 weeks ago from Cabalas. The original price on those puppies are $169.00-$170. EXPENSIVE! Cant beat the price for $59.99, so i bought 2!

They are really good. The old ownership of All Star and American Rodsmiths joined forces to start Tour Star.

The above post is pretty close. Brett Crawford was one of the owners of All-Star Graphite Rods back in the day. Bob Brown was President of the company and was largely responsible for making them a powerhouse in the industry. When Shakespeare purchased All-Star, Bob moved to American Rodsmith and transformed what was essentially a garage operation into a true national player. Bob and Brett remained close friends and ultimately joined forces with a third person, Randy Stewart, to create Tour Star Rods and Grips. The idea of replaceable grips for your existing rod has really revolutionized the rod business and has been exceptionally well received by custom rod makers. Tour Star is the only company allowed to use the patented Winn grip. Winn is the largest golf club grip maker in the world. The technology behind their grips far exceed ANYTHING on the market. It has been imitated by many, but none hold up like the Tour Star Winn grips and one have the sensitivity and feel of their proprietary grip. The rods themselves have an incredibly strong yet light weight blank. I have a boat full of them and love them.

I have actually been using them for a little over a year now, and I really like these rods. I have replaced all of my Castaway rods with them, so carry around 15-16 in the boat and have everything from the big flippn sticks to the cranking rods and havent had the first problem out of them. Bob and Brett have made a really good product here and you wont regret using them. About a month ago they custom built me a rod for my 1 year olds birthday party, these guys went about and beyond any of my expectations with this rod. It is around 4 1/2 feet long with the custom tour star split grips and all. I would recommend this rod to anyone.
