I am wanting to know if there would be any large trout in the back lakes of Little Pasture cove in east galveston bay. Would I be better off fishing the open bay? I will be going in early January. Thanks, Cade.

January is prime time if you are in search of a big Trout!!!! Anywhere on the south shoreline, north shoreline, or in the back around Rollover Pass can produce a big Trout. This is where I will be most of the winter when looking for the big ones. If you locate an area with mullet chances are there is a big trout in the area. If possible pick a spot with lots of bait and dirty water or green water. Super gin clear water to me is not as productive. When fishing for big trout I prefer the dirtier water over the clear stuff. If it's real dirty i will throw Corkys or Corky Brocken backs working them slowly. If there is a goog amount of surface bait I will tend to stick with a super spook more but won't hesitate going back n forth with a corky. It's getting close to that time of year where we are gonna start catching some monster Trout in Galveston Bay. This is my favorite kind of fishing. Bring on the cold lol.

First things first. Dont drink the water. Watch out for sharks and stingrays. Basically everything else is the same. Trout are similar to bass. Redfish are more like catfish. Flounder well they are like nothing else.

See my post in the saltwater discussion. Like he said throw Corkies I like the devils in pearl. Also throw the top waters! Concentrate on active bait and water movement around the ditches and drains that come out of the back lakes. Anywhere from Yates all the way around to roll over and direct across on the refuge side.
