Hello TFF and Happy Halloween! Here at Lake Fork the water is cooling and the fall bite is improving. Look for bass to be chasing shad in main lake and secondary pockets with access to deeper water. Cast topwaters, shallow cranks, and weightless worms for the best results on these 1-5 ft flats. Also during sunny days make sure the check main lake points and humps in 15-25 ft for signs of baitfish and feeding largemouth. I recommend fishing this deeper water with a dropshot, flutter spoon, or carolina rig. Below is a video that will give you some more detailed information on topwater lure selection. Michael Steet, a CWO4 in the United States Marine Corps with a healthy 9.8 lb October Lake Fork bass! This bass was caught in 14ft on a carolina rigged green pumpkin Hag's F-4 Tornado and a 3/0 Trokar finesse worm hook. When you are fishing the c-rig this fall, make long casts and slowly drag your lure back to the boat. It is best to try and feel the bottom while working the lure so that you do not put too much action into your presentation.
