Water is leaking in from the chimney. Roof guy says the chimney cricket is failing and needs to be rebuilt. Any idea how much this thing costs? Or will a $3 tube of roofing caulk work for a few years?
Example pic (not from my house):

I'd start with a flashlight in the attic looking for where the water is coming in, then decide on how to tackle the job.

Henry 208 $5 a tube at the Home Depot and it will even cure in standing water.

This would be about right.

It would be a one day job and needs to be done before the damage to the structure gets worse.
Properly done flashing is critical.

A properly built and installed roof system needs almost no caulk.

just got a quote from a roof guy and it's $800.
sounds like I need to get another bid.....
