My buddy and his dad are way better than average bass fishermen. They both will not throw soft plastics without glass rattles. I on the other hand rarely ever use rattles in my T-rigs and C-rigs. I still manage as many fish at the end of the day as them but they seem to pick up 1 or 2 bigger ones. Common sense says use rattles. I just want to get yalls input. Do you use them and if so under what conditions?

I have 6 or 7 packages and never use them. I don't think it will make you catch bigger fish. I think it's more of a confidence thing or just right time and place.Maybe if you are fishing for a reaction bite they might be useful.

I've fished then both ways, and honestly don't know if they made a difference.

use them all the time, especially on a drop shot. It may not help but it cant hurt either.

Good point Wooly. My buddy has proven that it doesn't hurt but I was just wondering if I was missing something by not using them.

There used to be a company that made a rattle bead that went on your line between the sinker and hook. They were called Woodys Bayou Rattler, I sure liked them wish I could find more.

I think they're money is made on deep water bites. I also agree with the other guys. Can't hurt, but it can help. I don't throw one without em, because a month ago me and friend went night fishing. I used them and cleaned house, on the other hand, my friend didn't use them (same bait & color) and got skunked. Too many variables involved to say it was the rattles, but it helps my concfidence. And that reason being my 2 personal best have been in the last 2 months, both had rattles inserted.

Dirty or deep water follow the 3 S's Sight...Sound....Scent.

I use them all time when I'm fishing a wacky worm. The rattles do help. There have been many times when my buddy's ask if I have any more of them rattles. Lol
As far as using rattles in plastics on a texas rig or carolina rig I normally have a rattling bullet weight tied on.
Rattles seem to work better for me!

If it doesn't affect the presentation of the bait it can' hurt.
