You'll have to excuse my mad writing skillz with a mouse, but I marked the most common bad areas in the boat lane. This pic was taken from Google Earth in November 2011 when the lake was just about a foot lower than it is now. The green line is pretty much the creek channel. The spot marked concrete is the area that took a motor off a year or so ago. The tree that's down has been down forever so you have to swing out wide to avoid it. The stump at the top is right by the blue Jack Hudson boat lane sign by Willow. It took a prop shaft completely off my buddies boat. Right between Willow and Hijackers is a shallow spot in the lane. I ran it Saturday, but it is shallow so be aware. The area in the boat lane from the ramp to where the river crosses it just south of the bridge is only 1.5' deep. I ran it Saturday, but I'm not sure how much longer you'll be able to do it. If it gets bad just jump in the creek channel just west of the boat lane and follow it up.

The 2nd pic is of mid lake. The red line is about where the boat lane is. Down by Big Oaks boat ramp is a long row of timber and then when you make the turn going south there's what we call the 224 stump. When the lake gets to this level you'll hit it. I'm not real sure just exactly where it is so I marked the general area. Boat run hump has maybe a few inches of water over it now. You obviously can't run over it now unless you feel like tearing your boat up. If I missed anything please chime in.

Me and a flat bottom met the concrete a few years back. At night. Almost lost the whole boat before I noticed I was standing in almost five inches of water and a good way from cedar springs ramp. Thanks for the info!

That's was the time we fished it last year. We always fish north of the bridge, so the run was pretty gnarly. We encountered everything you have marked. ha. Nice job spreading the word.

The Infamous Liberal is HERE to weigh in!!! wink grin

Thank you BWhatley! You got mad skills drawing on the computer. I wouldn't even know how to get the picture of the lake on the computer!!

Hopefully this will save a transom, lower unit or possibly a save a life!

Once the boat lane ends in front of Locks Mtn, are you clear to run or do you know of any specific hazards between there and the entrance to Alley Creek?
