I drive by and mark structure aproprietly.
Then go to the front of the boat with a identical networked unit and try to navigate to that location.
My unit starts twisting and turning the map, if I change the direcetion (IE North always up or heading always up or whatever) it creates another twisting and turning of the boat icon. My refresh rate is already at max (1 second).
I have read to have a true GPS bearing you must have three points of intrest not just the one within the Lowrance unit. In reading how spot lock works on my Ipilot it mimicks a three point intrest then spaces itself X number of feet from each and corrects itself as needed.
Does anyone have working knowledge of and if so WTH?
I have added the external GPS puck and it is no better response than the internal puck.
Is this the best I can expect from 5k in electronics?

well I am a Bird man but I will try and help. You say it is flipping around that to me sounds like you have one set on north up and the other set on course up. if the boat barley moves on course up your map will flip around. I may be way off

Tony- Im tending to agree.

Snickers- Though there may be some logic to the networked sytem getting confused between themselves when set to diffrent headings. But? I have ran each setting on the front and had the same results.
I can be on course then the unit updates and Im way off mark and with diffrent heading in relation to waypoint.

What puck are you using? Did you go in your system settings menu and select the puck on both units?

Marker buoys never don't move and don't twist & turn. Leave it in the sun a few days so it fades and then it is not as easy for others to see. Sometimes low tech is best---plus pretty cheap.

There you go Tony - problem solved. In fact, if you save an old Pepsi bottle and steal your neighbor's clothes line you can really save the bucks marking your stuff.

Thats just how GPS works, if your not moving it gets confused. Even my spotlock drifts off of the 10 ft circle before it kicks back on, still beats fighting a foot pedal though. I would have to agree that although it's old school if precision is needed a bouy is unbeatable. I think the only way to achieve what you are wanting to do is get a heading or bearing antenna, not sure what it is but I read about it over on BBC. Something coastal guys use to keep this from happening.
