After working all week in a 100 degree warehouse I couldn't wait to finish work this morning and get out on the bank and unwind a few hours. Gave my good friend, Jack (Jray) a call around 5:30am (probably woke him up) to see if he wanted to join me for a few hours before the dadgum heat set-in. Got home, loaded up my gear in the truck and then looked over at my wife's car and noticed that I was gonna have to take care of a flat tire on her car before going anywhere . At any rate, got to the ramp early enough and the shad were there and we got down the road and set-up on the bank by 8am . We got the lines baited out, sat around a bit and not long after I noticed one of my rods doing a bend and then line started to slack so I slowly caught up to the fish and then let her have it. Good hookset , a few head shakes and then the fight was on . Got her landed and ended up being my new 40lb Lavon Flathead PB . Previous Lavon flatty was like 10lbs .
Another slow spell and then another wave of activity landed us an eater, 18lb Blue and a 17lb Blue and then the heat set in. Called it at 12pm. Good Times!

Fresh cut shad did the trick, Crago! A real finicky bite
with the flathead at first,kinda like a big channel, but then bite got more serious
