I'm saving up and seriously considering a stand up kayak. I was just curious on other fly casters' opinion on whether the added feature of the ability to stand is really worth the extra money over a the more traditional sit on or sit in angling kayaks. I would plan to use it around North Texas and the fly fishing that's available on local lakes and streams, with the occasional overnight trip on the Brazos or other rivers. I'm currently looking at the WS Ride 115 and the Jackson Coosa. (maybe the Diablo Adios if I could find a used one) I've demo'd all of them, but have not had the chance to spend any time with a rod in them. If I had to pick one today, it would probably be the Ride, if only for the fact of its small size and it seems to track slightly better. However, the perception of poorer tracking with the others may just be the result of lousy paddling technique on my part.

I have a Coosa and stand and fly fish out of it. I feel like it is worth it. I do better casting standing. I also have a Scrambler and I can't stand very well in it.

your going to have a hard time having room on a diablo for an over night trip. if i was in the market for a new yak i would most likely get a coosa. with that said i have had a native ultimate for about 5 years now and have been very happy with it. you can stand and fish out of it and load a ton of gear into it for multiday trips.

Cool, thanks! I had not seen that one yet. I'll have to check it out. Seems similar to the WS Commander. Kind of a hybrid between a canoe and a kayak.

WS Commander is their answer to the wildly successful Native Ultimate series, but IMO the Commander is way overbuilt - especially when it comes to their seat / seat mechanism, making it heavy. Love my Native and love the Diablo. If you want to take a ride on the Diablo, just let me know.

Been fishing out of a Coosa since they came out. I can stand as well as cast with ease while sitting in the high seat position. Great to camp out of and paddles just fine for me.

Since you're not ready to pull the trigger just yet you might consider the new Jackson Kilroy.

Being older and a little unsteady myself I would look at the new NUCANOE to stand up in.

Just visited the website because that would be more than 60% off!!! I did not see any Freedomhawk kayaks in the bargain cave.

I think that particular boat is possessed by banana demons; hence its low price.
