Sorry for not posting much this winter.. I have been pretty busy .. I have also lost a lot of photos for some reason as I think I deleted them:( November provided some good shallow water fishing.. I would throw 1/2 jig heads with 3 inc Co Co Ho bodies.. The hybrid fishing was off and on but mostly white bass. The fish have now been in their winter pattern in deep water. I am using 1 oz jig heads with a short shank hook , with small flukes .. Find the balls of bait and you find the fish .. you will miss a lot of fish during this time of year .. When you locate the fish , be sure to turn the sensitivity up on your graph, drop your jig behind the boat or by your trolling motor and watch your lure drop.. reel up to where the fish are right above their heads... dead sticking is the key, but I will also very slowly raise the jig.. Hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas.. I have over 20 yrs experience fishing Lake Ray Hubbard and over 10 yrs guiding .. give me a call if you would like a trip or learn how to fish in the winter .. Thank you for a wonderful year once again ..

Another Spring break in the books ... I had to cancel a couple trips cause of the winds especially tomorrow .. I hate to do that as I know the kids look so forward to it . The fishing was a little tough but we managed some nice fish . The fish are spawning and can usually be caught but they had a little lock jaw this week . We threw tail spinners and CoHo's for some along the rocks and the others where caught with 1 oz slabs and they where HUGGING the bottom pretty tight . The good thing is .. the fishing will get better every week !!! Spring after the spawn can be some of the best fishing .. I have some open dates so give me a call or email ..

Monday is the first day of Spring. The water is warming up fast and fish are moving shallow. Now is the time to get on these fish and John is the guy to do that.

Its April and the fishing is picking up nicely !!! the last couple weeks where tough but the fish are shallow and are hungry finally !! Please be careful as we are catching boat loads of 17.5 in hybrids.. know your fish please.. I am catching 80% of my fish in 2 ft of water throwing 4 inch Co-Co Hos on a once jig head.. color doesnt matter much .. the windier the better !! They are also ganging up on points in 17-24 ft water .. dont be afraid to look shallow throughout the day .. the bigger hybrids will be there also.. as one of my guest 13 year old Kyle caught a 10lb .. they are full of eggs and FAT FAT FAT !!! I have some open days and if interested in a trip give me a call.. it only gets better every day .. Spring CATCHING is here !!

The fishing remains good on Lake Ray Hubbard!! The fish are shallow and we are throwing jig heads with 3-4 in Co Ho bodies..color doesnt matter. The white bass have started ganging up on some humps and points in 17-24 ft water, but they are moving fast. Sporadic schooling has started but not much .. if you see shad jumping out of the water screaming for their lives.. Throw a swim bait !!! The fish seem to flip flop on best times.. one day its early morning .. The next its afternoons .. Fishing only gets better as the month moves on like clockwork.. I have some open dates so if you want some family fun give me a call.. Be sure to be aware of small hybrids.. catching alot of 17 inch hybrids ..

Fishing on Lake Ray Hubbard has been a little up and down the last few days .. the cold front that came thru with the high pressure blue skies scattered the fish pretty good . They are also making that transition from the really shallow bite to that 17-21 ft on various points , levees and humps . Some days with the shallow bite you have to be at the right place at the right time . With all that being said ... some fish have been on the flats , and you can troll to catch them using shallow crank baits .. This will balance out as May moves along as they always seem to do some crazy stuff this time of year with water temps fluctuating . I have been throwing 1/2 Co Co Ho jig heads with 3-4 inch bodies .. windy days provide a better bite as long as you can fish the areas especially when cloudy . I've notice a lot of suspended fish in deeper water which indicates that schooling will start soon ... you can also troll for these fish as they are moving fast in semi big groups .. I have some days open in June so give me a shout if interested in a trip .. happy fishing to all ...
