These cork handles look pretty cool, I may order a couple and try them out, has anyone tried any of these and have any feedback on them? http://www.hawgtech.com/category/hawg-handle

nice idea...good looking...just wondering how long they will last before breaking down ?...looking at the cork handles on my rods every year there is less and less cork...i'll stick to foam or plastic, just my two cents...

Got to see and use these 2 weeks ago while fishing with a friend. They look great, feel great and have for sure moved to my must-have list. I was very impressed!
I really liked the cork on the handle itself, was sweet looking and not nearly as slippery when wet compared to standard handles. Beyond that was the bearings in each handle, no slop or play at all and a super-smooth spin.

I've had the opportunity to use them for about a month now and so far they're GREAT!!! Light and STOUT... workmanship is excellent and wasn't sure about the cork handles at first either but now I'm a Big FAN Without a doubt, I'll have'em on all of my reels soon!

Hey guys, this is Mike. I am partner and co-owner at Hawgtech along with my partner Robert.
To answer a couple of the above questions...
i.e. wear. We have an extensive user trial group of pros/guides in South Florida who have been using the product for many months. These guys are HEAVY users who fish 4-7days a week, 52 weeks a year. I have been changing out their user trial handles and doing measurements on the knobs/shafts/bearings (I'm a mechanical engineer...sorry!) and have found almost zero wear on the cork. Certainly cork has proven over the years to be a reliable material on fishing rods...
Price is $79. This come fully assembled/lubed with all necessary mounting hardware.
I am very confident you will find our product to be a quality alternative to the JDM carbon fiber handles currently available. We are designed/assembled/packaged in the US. We offer a lifetime warranty on the hardware (excl knobs). Our Japanese competitor is approximately twice the cost, and offers no warranty.
Virtually everyone who has used our product has been very pleased with it, including some tough customers like Steve (Big-O) and Matt (Moaner Hooks) above. I know we're a new company, and at $79 it's not a trival investment. I would be happy to answer any questions someone has either through this forum or by emailing me directly at support@hawgtech.com.
Thanks! Mike
