They make these fancy new comfy seats but brag about how easy it is to stand in the kayaks. Why make a fancy seat if your going to stand most the time? I dont understand this stand in your kayak craze I don't really have any desire to stand while fishing traditional equipment. In these situations, I tend to agree with you and think that the "stable enough that you can stand and fish" is overrated as I wonder if there are that many people actually spending a significant portion of their fishing time standing. I have a Coosa and stand a lot because I get tired of sitting even in the comfortable seat. Another reason is that I feel like I can cast more accurately while standing. You also have the opportunity to sight fish which is always cool. Brady

Brady nailed it. If I'm not paddling I'm usually standing. I'll sit if I get tired for a while but I'm more accurate and can pitch and flip a lot easier standing. Also if you're trying to sling a c-rig with a 2-3 foot leader it's easier to do standing. Everyone has there preference but I probably wont ever buy another kayak that I can't comfortably stand in.

I agree but I think longer rods come in play with this as well. I think the shortest rod I have is 7' and the longest is 8'.

That is a nice ride!!
I just wanted to comment about standing. No it is not needed, but it does help in a few ways.
One, it just proves how stable the boat actually is.
Two, it is nice to stand and stretch your legs once in awhile after hours of sitting in a yak. (Plus it's nice to stand and pee overboard when needed).
And third, it's nice for launching at unusual launches. Hardly any of the places I launch have a nice shallow "beach" type area to launch. Most of them are bulkheads, docks, mother ships or steep banks. That is where the ability to stand in my boats gives me many more places that I can actually use it. So that one to me makes it a huge factor in increasing the overall usefulness of my boat if I can stand in it.

I agree with the ability to stand. I like being able to stand up, stretch my legs, get some blood flowing. And as far as fishing, I like most come from Bass Boats, think about it....how much do you sit?The only time I sat was motoring to another spot. I like standing and casting, I only know how to stand and Fly fish, and the guys on the coast that are fishing for Reds hardly ever sit. This like everything is personal preference. I for one have been waiting for the Slayer for a long time. I actually thought they would bring back the Native Magic but with Propel drive. The Slayer was a suprise...it looks like it will be a great boat, but again it needs the Propel Drive.

Don't get me wrong, I am a proud of a 2011 14.5 Ult. but this doesn't excite me as much as I would have hoped. I guess I was hoping that "my" kayak company would come to the table with a stronger response to the coosa, cuda and the new Hobie Pa 12. The Ace for Native use to be "Ultimate Seat" but it seems like Jackson matched it and Hobie with the new PA def has it beat. This might seem like I'm being tough on Native but it's been tough having to go to other companies for accessories that Native should have had out. Unfortunately it seems that Hobie will continue to lead the industry and Native will continue to move at their own pace.

I have a coosa and I stand a lot helps to stretch the back and in truth I like the balance workout.

More them double the price?

Im sure it will be half of what a PA is if not a little less then that. You really pay for pedal power! Love my Propel powered Mariner though.

When I'm in my yak, I am standing 75% of the time. I even paddle standing up unless I'm covering a long distance and want to move faster. I fly fish so its much easier for me to make a precise cast while standing. I have a U12 and am really looking forward to paddling this. I hope they keep the price reasonable.

There will be a Bassyaks System available in a few weeks, it will be setup the same way as the Cuda which it was designed to compete against.
