George, what weight line do you fish the 6-8 mini-mag with? Have you used a 6 weight and if so how did it do?

ben, as you know the 6-8 MiniMag is rated for rated lines 200-300 grains - a 6wt line is on the light side for me. I prefer an 8wt line or even a 9wt for big bugs. It will handle an amazing range of lines.
A recent quote from TFO's Rick Pope: "It a SGlass in the butt and sequentially higher modulus carbon fiber towards the tip. SGlass does the fighting and HM carbon the casting the way we designed it.lt also performs well with most any line as opposed to the more parabolic/stiff actions that need a more defined weight (shooting head type line) in order to load the rod.
Hope this helps, George

Thanks George. Affirms what I thought I knew and had been told, appreciate the reply. The mini mag and a sage large mouth are my two favorite rods. I guess I am looking for something similar that will fish 5-6 weight but no one makes it. Might be a reason for that.

George do you think the 8-10 Mini Mag would do adequate double duty in the salt? I was in the market for a do-it-all 8wt, thinking the Mini Mag might be an option as well.

I continue to believe it would be a winner...
