Thanks Fouzman, that's all I need to know. I'm buying Ardent's now, guess I'll keep buying them when one of my Shimanos or Diawa's bites the dust.

I wonder what the Korean symbol for Lew's is? Lu's?

The government is doing everything they can to make sure nothing is made in the USA. There are a few rebels still making things here but they are few and far between.

I am a real fan of the Lew's reels. Great product at a great price. I would love to buy a reel made in the USA, but I am not going to buy a underperforming reel just because it is made in the US. Money is hard to come by and I would rather spend it on a reel because of quality and performance rather than where it is made.

I'm with you on this HasBen. I also like to buy American made products when I can. I don't even mind paying a little more for them but I do expect them to be top quality.
It is only fair that if American businesses want us to support them, they have to deliver a product that is as good or even better than the foreign competition.

Not to turn this into a Bunker discussion, but we as a country have unions to thank for this. They served their purpose at the turn of the century. Today, manufacturing and service unions do nothing but drive up costs while producing a mediocre product. Firefighter and Police Unions not included.

But I'm still gonna buy American or at least American owned when a comparable product is available. The Ardent Edge I have is great. I'm a cranker and it casts further than my Daiwa Zillions.

But can it cast further than my Steez? I buy American-made, or foreign-made from American vendors 99.9% of the time. I think we all do. Remember guys, most of these fishing products we use that are being made overseas are the products of American ingenuity. It's just that the tax and manufacturing environment abroad are much more favorable than at home. Don't penalize our good American entrepreneurs for delivering the quality you demand from a non-union workforce, abroad. In many instances, the processes and tolerances in Asia are far better than ours here at home. That means a better product at an affordable price.

Is there an import tax on imported reel? There is a 10% percent tax on all USA manufactured fishing products, That makes it harder for USA co to compete if there is not. Not counting cheap labor overseas. Ok I will get off my soap box before I fall and bust my arss.

I penalize them for being cheap and sending their stuff to china. Not enough people do the same, otherwise they'd make them here. They're making plenty profit margin. The more foreign made junk we buy the more we shoot ourselves in the foot.
