I noticed after pulling friends around in tubes and kneeboards Memorial day weekend, that I have some cracking around the ski pole. Is this something I need to worry about besides a cosmetic problem? Boat is a 2005 Hurricane GS211 center console deck boat with a 150HP 4-stroke on it.

Looks more than cosmetic to me.

+1, if you have access to the back side I would try to reinforce with something. Wood or build it up with some fiberglass or a combination.

Pull the ski pole and you should have access (albeit, very small!) to the back-side. Get you a little bit of fiberglass and some resin (a marine repair facility might let you buy a little bit) and beef it up. Extend the 'glass at least a few inches to the left/right/bottom of the repair and it will help to reinforce the load.

That puppy is cracked. Make sure it's retightened. When you get tired of looking at it come see me. It's not a big deal.

I don't think it is a big reason to worry. My friend had cracks on his new 265ssi. They had him run it for a year. He then brought it back to the dealer and they did a half butt repair so he raised the issue to Chaparral. They took his boat back to the factory and fitted a new topside deck to it. They told him strait out that sometimes there are bad lay ups they do not catch. It is rare but it does happen. I am happy to say his boat has been flawless ever since.

My 2007 Hurricane is doing the same thing. Did you do the repair and did it keep it from cracking anymore. I am going to try the internal repair either way but how do you repair the gel coat cracks.
