I have fished under bimini tops, and they are harder to fish around. The frame work gets in the way unless fishing out the front or back.
With the umbrella, there is no frames to get in the way. can fish anywhere around the boat. With the 10' Jigging Rods the umbrella gets in the way if you try to lift the fish into the boat, so we have gone to a net when the umbrella is up. The bimini tops have the same problem, unless you get up and move into the sun to land the fish.
The umbrella made the best since for me.

I went with the pepop setup. Super easy! Still gotta find a decent deal on two umbrellas and I'm good. I'll try and post pics one day. I'm dog tired from work + project umbrella, lol.

Watch Academy Ken. I got mine when they had them for half price & somehow it rang up for half of half ($15). They were on sale this week for $30 I think. That's still not bad.

I saw them at Academy for $30. Don't know if you have one or if it would have them, my Brookshires also had some really nice ones for $29.99.
We will expect pictures when you get it all put together.

There is always a nice cool breeze blowing under these things. They make a 10 degree difference, and just the keeping the sun off of you is worth it's weight in gold. We are able to fish until we are ready to quit, instead of going home at 10:30 on 100 degree days of summer. Here's the one we made: keith I know this is an old thread but what do you call that tandem seat on the front of the boat. I'd like to get one for my son and I.

We were on Lake Palestine Wednesday, nice day. About noon the wind slowed. By 1 pm we had the umbrellas up and continued to put slabs in the boat. Would not think of fishing the summer without the umbrellas.
Using the site for a while...this is really great to share fishing ideas and success with others.

Thanks David!!! With my boat seat bases, the PVC mounts are not an option I had looked at the umbrellas that mount to the back of your seats, but they are around $250 each. I believe the Z-Mount will work for me And I don't think it'll be too hard to convince Belinda I (SHE) needs them

I called and spoke with the owner Mr. Leon Woodall and was informed that these mounts were made for the 5' Golf umbrella's. Not intended for the 9' Patio/Beach umbrella. Possibility of damaging the E-Z Mount metal bracket. Just thought I would put this info out there just in case some one was thinking of getting one. I have not tried mines out yet, but hopefully I will soon..

Those golf umbrellas are tough enough to handle when a wind kicks up. I couldn't imagine a patio umbrella!

Someone posted this same idea, ?? , about 1 year ago. I put one together but, honestly have not yet used it. My only concern is the wind. I was giving thought to two 'bungee cords', one on each side to prevent the 'lifting from the wind'. God Bless

That would be a bit small for a pontoon with 5 adults and one grand kid. Looks like it would have to be taken down when the boat is on plane. Probably not a problem when the bass boat is dling 50-60 mph, but doesn't on a toon ding 15.
I already suggested four golf umbrellas to be held by individuals but daughter gave me a real bad look.
