Hey guys and gals. I work in Garland and am in the process of getting to know some of the city council. A co worker of mine had his truck stolen from the Bass Pro parking lot a few weeks ago and that started a conversation about this forum and the number of people who have had car break-ins and thefts. The city council people I know had no idea there was a problem and seemed genuinely concearned. Can you share your stories with me so I can forward them to my city council contacts?

There have been plenty of reports here on TFF of thefts and break-ins at that Bass Pro and at the nearby ramps and parks.

kingdad101 is right - just have them tell the PD records dept to compile a list of all crimes reported in that area in the past couple of years, sorted by address.

Chuck, Lake Fork Guide Marc Mitchell had his truck stolen from there. I cant remember the names of anyone else, but it seems like there were 2 or 3 more stolen I heard about. I'll never stop in at that location, I dont care how bad I need something they have. BPS and the city have yet to do anything to try and resolve the reoccurring issue. Heck even a Game Wardens truck was stolen from the ramp right up the street!

If Garland has a city manager form of government, the city council cannot take action on the police department. They can only instruct the city manager (police chiefs boss) to talk to the police chief and convey their wishes. If he won't, then the CC must fire the CM and hire one that will do what they want.

Seems odd it goes on so much there. Seems like someone has not been caught yet unless it's a mass of crooks there.

Well here I am again say issue different day. My truck was stolen at BPS Garland in Feb 2/10 at 2:30 pm. I was in the store for about 20 min. Parked up front and close to the exit door. It all maybe a inside job cause no one seems to care or do anything about it. I know that I am out a bunch of money and time and lots of personal stuff that I cannot replace. When I was talking with Garland PD they told me my truck number 11 in 18 months off that lot. That is a problem. So much of a problem I could not go back and BPS and I ended our 8 year relationship. I cannot loose another truck so I steer clear. The thieves win and I hate that ! If you have any other questions you can email me. Good Luck !

You just got schooled in politics.

Of the two of you, who was the one one that walked away from the conversation with a "things are really going to change" warm fuzzy feeling?

11 vehicles in 18 months from the same parking lot and not a single suspect.... unreal!

Hey guys, I get the frustration but don't kill the messenger here. I'm asking so I can bring more attention to it. Will it work? I don't know but I'm trying to do something here. Marc, thank you for your reply.

They parked that Tower thing in the parking lot a long time ago. I think it was treated like a median as soon as it got put in just something else to drive around.

The Walmart at I30 and Braodway/Beltline usually has an off duty officer on scene. Maybe we could make that happen here as well. Keep the stories coming so I have good information to take with me when I have the discussion.
