Hey guys I caught this thing with my throw net. Thing is armored like he is from the mid-evil times. I know the lake has them from irresponsible people dumping them in. My question is what is the fish and game laws on killing these? They are not native fish.

Awesome looking fish. No idea on the game laws regarding them although I can't imagine them being very good table fare.

Thats a nice one, but unfortunate that they get released, they can cause problems. Most shops will buy them back when they get to big for an aquarium.
Don't worry about the mule, just load the cart

Plecostomus, not sure on the spelling. I'm not sure what damage they could do. They re used in aquariums to keep the algae down.
it's all in the wrist

I think you are to kill em if you catch em.

yeah they are pleco's (sucker Fish) but I was just curious as I dont want to be in some SH** for killing em when caught.
I checked with the lake management and he said he wasnt sure on the law but he would personally kit it.

Cally is loaded with em. I have heard from a lot of anglers to kill em if you catch em. I have not seen any laws reference these fish.

if you were to kill all of the non native fish we wouldnt havent have much to fish for. Buffalo, gar and spotted bass are about it. Florida lmb, stripers, redfish, etc are all non native. As far as the pleco goes you are supposed to kill them i believe
Bowfishing sucks

It is considered an invasive species. I have seen more than one reference that says they taste like lobster when cooked and eaten. If I ever catch a big one, I am going to try it.

I also believe you are supposed to "eliminate" them.

sell it to a pet shop and buy new fishing baits. I raised one from a fingerling to over a foot and a 3" cichlid ate him.
