So I am thinking about heading up the river at Ray Hubbard - launching at the 66 east ramp - any help would be appreciated, I really want to keep the motor on the back of my boat!

Taking a soldier fishing and thought that would be the best place to go for a few hours.

Any help would be appreciated

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

We did our first trip up there on friday, it was surprisingly easy. But could have been beginners luck too.

The first big group of stumps we came to on main water, sorry I can't remember where to tell you, we did idle thru and was glad we did, I rolled over a stump on starboard side, but missed the prop. But I came back thru same area, picking a different hole to go and it was clear. The rest of the way we were on plane until river entrance. And I was on plane the whole way back.

Basically just stuck to the east side, but not too close to bank, and looked for the biggest gaps between stumps. We idled the whole time on the river, but could have run on plane easily, sticking to the center. But there were quite a few boats so could be tricky coming around corners on plane.

edit: We did not get a bite the whole time on the river, and we went up to the area marked "dead fall" on Navionics which is a long way up. Didn't see anyone else get anything, and they all said no bites. YMMV but could be tough, we are newbies so could just be us.

Good Lord....

I think I almost did that last summer when it was real skinny getting into the river. Missed the widowmaker by a good 6-8 inches

Run to the first point idle threw that after you get past the trees and then you can get back on pad head left to the powerlines and I idle the rest of the way to be safe I do't want to mess up my boat . If you do idle its takes a while but you dont have to worry about a new lower unit . And keep lookingbehind you so you can get out of the way of the guys coming in on pad some people fly in there.

God I remember that day in Glade, We were running in there and saw you getting towed out with no motor.... I leaned over and said that dang cat didn't have a motor on it.

Thats wrong Sinkey, Easiest way is to run to the golf course point shut her down and idle in there if you don't know how to run it.

The marinas have a lot of bed fish in them bud

RoF, is that a RH ramp? I don't recognize it. Just curious. Looks like whoever that is can't be very happy. How did the motor stay attached?

If your just fun fishing, don't chance it on plane. Just allow yourself more time to idle up there. From the golf course point it would probably on take about 20-30 mins at the most. After you clear the trees just at the golf course it's relativity clear until you get to the power lines. But don't take my word for it, play it safe until you learn it.

Yall should hear the story from ken, face to face sometime... hilarious now, that all is well and nobody was hurt.. but suffice it to say... it sounded like the water was COOOOOLD that day!
