We come to fork a couple weeks in the spring every year. Last year we ran into some guys at the lodge that just night fishes on fork. They killed us in numbers and size every night and we were catchign about 25 to 30 fish a day. We are going to give it a shot this next week when we head down. Now we are not going to venture to far from the ramp and idle everywhere we go. Just looking for some night fishing tips from some guys that have done it before. Fish shallow, fish points, throw darker bigger baits with braid, etc. any advice will help.

just for fish-ability i would only throw black tx rig plastics of choice, black spinnerbaits with some type of big heavy thumping blade, and the biggest loudest black buzzbait i could find. my night fishing experience is very little but i would think those 3 things should get you bit on fork.

btw right now you can't go wrong fishing shallow, right off of channel breaks or way back on flats, there tons of fish shallow right now. been fishing daytime only but i would think if anything even more would move up at night. good luck and post pics when you wack em.

Use ur same corors. We smoke em on wat red, wat blue, wat candy this time of year at night too. Later in summer the darker colrs work better. Find 8 to 12 foot humps. I personnally like a tx rigged wat candy super speed craw.....aka.....the hoover.

Awesome night bait in spring. After spring its big plum or plum apple worms and points in brush tops. You can catch em on the black spin baits with a thumper when the fish a shallow still like now in the spring but i tend to catch a lot bigger fish on the plastics and still catch a ton of em.

If my tournaments werent in the day id be night fishin already.

Night fishing this time of year can be the best. Just be ready to miss some fish because they will move it off the bed at night just like they do in the day. Grab it by the pinchers or tail and swim 3' and drop it.
You can definitely hook up on some giants. Go heavy line and a winch so you can move them out of the stumps ASAP. My favorite is a Black/Blue Gene Larew Hawg Craw and a 1/4oz weight Texas Rigged on a 5/0 Owner. Put a couple of glass rattles in the eyes and hang on.
Good luck and take some pics for us.

I used to night fish at Fork during the spawn and loved it. Fishing was great, usually not much wind at night, hardly any boats on the water, and fish didn't seem to be as spooky.I fished areas where I could trailer pretty close to where I wanted to fish so I didn't have to worry alot about stumps running down the lake, fished during the full moon,or fished areas where there was alot of lights from docks where I couls see fairly well.Caught the heck out of them on Berkely power worms.

+1 Night fished out at Amon carter a few years back and saw HUGE gar and bass everywhere. One bass probably pushed 7 or 8 and was stalking a good sized bluegill. 'Gill never even knew the bass was a few feet behind him lol

Caught 'em good the other night when i got a black/red midnight special w/ single silver blade and a a rattle within a few inches of the bank.

A tradition of mine when i go to fork is to go throw that bait down at the bank the night before our first day on the lake. A few times I've caught my best fish of the trip doing that.
