Anyone know of a crankbait, besides a lipless, that can run over elodea that is growing up and off the bottom in 6 feet of water woithout getting the hooks snagged in the grass?

The hook is hinged. Never tried it, but it looks like it might be a good idea.

like the man says...if you're swimming in the ocean and get bitten by a shark, its not a shark attack. You're in THEIR neighborhood. If you're at home in your shower, turn around and a shark is in there with you...THAT'S a shark attack

How do they stop the bill from grabbing grass? If a jig head or lead weight can pick up grass I think it would still be hard for any type of billed bait to make it thru almost any type of grass that is not stiff like cattails. Now shallow hard wood or lilly pads and around cattails I think the baits shown here would pretty interesting to try out!

Throw a bait that doesn't dive all the way to the bottom. Throw a 1.5 on 16lb mono and it won't dive all the way down there to get tangled in the grass.

Lee Sisson made a bait a few years (like 5 or 6) that had a weedless design that did work. It had a wire arm that was attached to the bill. At the end of the arm was a place to thread your line. So your line is through the hole on the wire arm, then tied to the eye of the hook (not an easy knot to tie). It also came with weedless hooks. It is very hard to snag this bait and it does come through weeds pretty well. But it never took off. Used to sell on Tackle Warehouse and on his website. But they are not offered anyplace that I can find any longer, not even on EBAY at the moment. You might be able to email him through his website and get a few. I have caught fish on them, they do work well. But one of those things that never took off. I have like 6 of them, no plans to sell them (lol).
