Depends on where your fishing it at. Thick cover, braid. Not as thick, flouro. Although, I haven't tried brain on the main line with flouro leader, sounds like it would work.

Since Carolina rigs= long casts I like braid for the main line due to 0 stretch...

I like to use a mono leader, it absorbs some shock on the hook set and helps float the 10 inch xcite worm I fish it with!

I have always used 20lb BigGame for both main and leader but last year switched to braid w/mono leader.Seems like I don't get bit as much.Love the feel you get with braid but not sure it's not costing me fish.Got some Seaguar 25lb floro to try as a main line but will keep the mono leader.

Fluoro. All the way with a small floater at the hook to help pick the bait up.

I snap my flouro when I use braid (I don't throw the rig much....it's dreadful to me). I'm thinking of going back to mono for some stretch and floating ability.

When you say for every situation, you mean weather you're throwing, Rat'l'traps, senkos, Frogs, etc. this is your way you fish, with braid and a flouro leader?

Fluoro main line with a mono leader to absorb some of the shock and to help float the bait off the bottom. Every time I've used a braid and fluoro combo I break the leader half the time when I set tha hook.

I like braid main line and use a 12-15lb Pline Premium (Copoly) as leader material. That leader has a bit of stretch and since braid is the main line I want something to stretch a little so I break off less on the hookset. Even still when you use braid it's a good idea to back the drag off a bit.

With Stained2muddy water I dont think they can see braid on a reaction strike! Braid all the way!

DO NOT use fluoro in cold (50 degree) water. It gets "brittle" and breaks off way too easy. In murky, I'd use braid all over. Clear, use mono leader.

Guys most of what everyone said makes a lot of sense and all your opinions hold a lot of weight. My question is, for clear water (California Clear) or Perky/Brady Branch Clear... for the people recommending Mono leader, would you still use Mono leader when you can see to 15+ deep in clear water? Or would you migrate to a fluoro leader in that situation? To date, I've always done 15# fluoro main line with a 10-12# fluoro leader depending on how clear it is. It works ok, but I know I don't get the 'float' effect that mono would probably provide. Looking for some feedback for clear water strategies for C-Rig. Thanks!
