How often do you repack your wheel bearing? I have a single axel.

If you you are only pulling it a short distance ,ever 3 years . If you pulling it a couple thousand miles a year ,then at least once a year.

If they show signs of heating up or grease on the inside of the wheel from seal failure.

do mine every year. I normally shoot a "shot" of greese in every few hundred miles. Even with this schedule, I've had issues with buddy bearings more than once. However, I wish all of them had the through spindle grease fitting. It's the only system that I've seen that actually forces grease through both bearings.

I have bearing buddies and fill them up twice a year. Haven't had an issue yet.

Seriously, floating hubs (50 Weight oil) will last years as long as the seal is good.

I blew a hub and jacked up my trailer brakes in the process about a month ago. Talk about a nightmare. I'm finally back rolling and don't want to think about something like that happening again any time soon. Gonna go ahead and replace the rest of the bearings and re-grease.

If your outer bearing fails your wheel comes off. I clean and pack them every year.

I almost got hit by a trailer tire coming from the other direction on the highway last year in Oregon. The tire was coming down my lane fast and was bouncing. I barely missed it (and barely saw it in my headlights). Something tells me a tire going 60 meeting a vehicle going 60 would not have ended well. Shortly after dodging the tire I saw sparks shootin from a trailer coming down the other side of the road. Event was a reminder of how dangerous driving can actually be. Thankfully, the tire bounced out of the road shortly after missing me.

Another preventive bearing tip I've read about and try to practice is not putting my trailer in the water immediately upon arrival at the lake. When your hubs are hot from travelling and you put the trailer in the water, the temp differential can allow some H2O past the grease seal. If you can take a little time preping your rig before launching, the hubs/seals cool sufficently and prevent the siphoning effect.
