You are now in THE position to decide if ACADEMY still does real life HONORABLE business with said pissed off with good intentions CUSSEDomer! Oh ya, it's ok for a customer to belittle and berate an employee in public. That's perfectly good behavior. Your right.

Two months ago, Sears replaced a 3/8" Craftsmen ratchet I bought back in 1998. The internal gear mechanism was shot after I torqued down hard trying to loosen a stuck bolt on the front shock of my Tahoe.
Sears replaced it without question. No receipt requested.
So what's the problem here? Probably the employee not doing his job. I still don't understand why the OP didn't talk to a manager about it.

So what's the problem here? That you should have used a box end wrench, or an impact if you could get at it with it? I have only had to use the warranty a couple of times but I am glad its there. It used to mean that the bit more that you paid for it was worth it in quality. I have a Craftsman wrench set, Ratchet and some more tools that were my Dads and I know they are at least 40 years old and I still use them. The only things that have needed to be replaced were ones that I bought in the last 15 years or so.

Ryan, go back and read the OP and then your "assumptions" and the overwhelming support from other posters that you are wrong. I'm sure you'll still argue though. Have fun.

This Ryan F must coach the "B" team. And more people coming in and talking carp to make themselves feel better about their sorry lives. I applaud you. You can belittle people from behind your computer. Must make you feel so big.

Do you not see that you come on here and start a very poorly crafted argument for no reason and then cry when others jump on you?

I read an OP that was from a PO'd customer who belittled an employee and couldn't even spell. And over what? A $20 tape measure. Ya I can see who is right here.

Do you not see that you come on here and start a very poorly crafted argument for no reason and then cry when others jump on you? I'm not crying. I gave reasons for why I thought the way I did. You didn't counter any of these points. You made mention of something that happened long ago and your to big of a baby to get over it. I have held no grudge but you obviously have something against me because I have a different point of view about football.

Do you not realize how much of a child you sound like when you jump in to a thread and try to make fun of someone from a thread that was months ago? Come on now. Grow up. You sound like a 4th grader trying to make himself feel better about his own life by making fun of other people.

meh....prefer Snap-on hand tools anyway. But it's hard to track down a snap on truck on saturday afternoon when you need a new wrench.

In case you missed it here is the response to an email about the guaranty from Sears CR.
I sent an email concerning the guarantee yesterday and this and this is the email return in my box this morning.
Good Afternoon C G Deich,
Thank you for contacting Sears.com.
I appreciate your interest in the Craftsman lifetime warranty. The Craftsman lifetime guarantee applies only to hand tools. If the Craftsman hand tool ever fails to provide complete satisfaction, return it to any Sears store or other Craftsman outlet in the United States for free repair or replacement. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
The lifetime warranty is meant to protect the customer in the event that a tool is defective or breaks under normal use. It is not meant to cover tools that are damaged/destroyed/lost due to fire, water, theft or other natural causes. Rust is not covered by the warranty.
A general list of Craftsman tools that are covered by the lifetime warranty would include: ratchets, sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers and hammers. Some tools that are not covered by the lifetime warranty (even though they are Craftsman branded) are: taps, dies, saw blades, drill bits and torque wrenches.
The warranty on power tools generally ranges from 30 days to one year. Accessories are covered by the limited warranty included with their packaging. Precision instruments, such as torque wrenches, calipers, and micrometers are excluded from the hand tool warranty, as they are precision instruments and not hand tools.
Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance. We certainly hope you will continue to make Sears your choice for your future purchases.
We're here to make everything easier. Take our survey to tell us how we're doing.
Make sure you're registered at sears.com for emails, so we can stay in touch!
Look for Great Ideas throughout the store and find Sears exclusive innovations from great brands like Sony, Kenmore, NordicTrack, Craftsman and Reebok.
Buy with confidence from Sears! To ensure you receive the best price on your purchase, please review our Price Match and Price Protection policies here!

It does not cover the blade but it does cover the mechanism that rolls the blade back into the case automatically.
I have never had a blade break. I have had the mechanism that retracts the blade break many, many, many times. That would be the main reason why I would spend twice as much for a Craftsman 30' tape measure instead of a cheaper brand from WalMart.
Yes, I expect Sears to do the right thing. It is a priceless commodity in business called goodwill. When you destroy the goodwill of a customer who has been doing business with you for decades, that is the first peal of the death knell of your business.

I a preety sure they would get the tape measure of their choice And you would do this for every customer that came in? You would go broke in a heartbeat. You are missing the point that Craftsman is Sears. They also still make and sell the measuring tape. http://www.craftsman.com/craftsman-8m-x-26-ft-steel-measuring-tape/p-00937392000P It clearly says on it that it is distributed by Sears. Sears is responsible for the warranty sold along with it. This has been the policy with Craftsman/Sears since before you were born. Ryan, the reply above pretty much sums it up. Quit arguing with everyone who disagrees with you. You are quickly becoming the Davy V of the TFF.......if you need to know who Davy is just ask someone who's been here for a while. You don't drive an STI do you?

It's funny to me how there's a bunch of arrogant guys in here who bash on someone because they have a different opinion on football than they do. You guys act like little children trolling every thread I post in. I haven't followed any of you clueless people around and trolled every thread you post in.
