Okay, maybe this isn't what you were expecting, but this is little bit of Texas history and good news for a lot of people here in North Texas. In case you didn't hear, last October, Fort Worth based Lockheed Martin and the Department of the Navy achieved a huge milestone for the Joint Strike Fighter program, which has been dogged by technical set backs. They landed an F-35B STOVL variant jet aboard the USS Wasp (LHD 1), making it the first time an F-35 landed aboard a ship. The jet would undergo a three week deployment aboard the USS Wasp (along with one more aircraft), and many people felt the future of the F-35B hinged on those ship trials.
