what are the guys that have either of these two boats using as a pfd? i tried several and it wasnt that they were uncomfortable, but it just seemed like they sat me way too far off the seat. almost thinking of going with the u shaped that auto inflates.. any feedback is appreciated

I use these. Highly recommended. Very light, cool in the summer, and compact so they don't get in the way. You won't ever be tempted to take it off.

In fact, our Bass Pro brand PFD is on sale right now for 69 dollars.

I use this one and it works great, plus its on sale right now. It has the raised back so you can sit all the way back. I thought about an auto inflate but I like having pockets to put my phone and other small things in. Its all personal perference.

Here's a pretty good video from Mustang.

They now have a inflatable PFD with HIT or Hydrostatic inflator.
It will allow you to fish in the pouring rain and will not go off. But if it is submerged in more then 4" of water it will inflate. A bit pricey. But a pretty cool option.

They have manual versions as well. They won't inflate until you pull the rip cord.

Mine is an automatic, so if I hit the water, it inflates. And yes, I have already been embarrassed by my PFD once. My friends got a good laugh when I lost my balance in 3 feet of water.

smile

Personally, I like the automatic. If I pass out when I am alone (or slip and hit my head) I don't have to worry about anything.

This is what always bothers me about people who say they don't need a life jacket because they are excellent swimmers. Your swimming skills won't serve you very well if you aren't conscious.
