I'm assuming that you will be fishing out of a kayak?? Being my first season with a kayak, I can tell you where I have gone in the past...

I have always done really well in Big Caney across from the Minnow Bucket. That west bank of Big Caney from the southern point all the way to the bridge has a ton of good water. Little creeks, ditches, flats and timber. I have stayed in that area for 5 straight days before and caught fish every day.

If you can find a spot to drop the boat close to Glade, the north side usually has grass. Really good fish in there if you can deal with the boat show that should be showing up soon.

Birch Creek, north of the power lines. There is usually alot of grass in that area....if you can find a spot that you feel comfortable dropping the boat....and again, boat show.

Those are just a couple of areas to get you started. I will be hitting Fork quite a bit here in a few weeks but it's my first season in a yak...so I will be looking for some close and safe spots to put in.

Always have a trap handy, but plastics are my most productive lure. Centipedes, flukes, Senko type baits in green pumpkin, watermelon, watermelon red (depending on the water condition).

Have fun and give us a report.

Still pretty early... Be prepared to fish deep... Heck even when they're supposed to be shallow at Fork, you should really have a plan for fishing in 15+... I like jigs on trees that edge the creek channels.... That can work any time of year there... Sometimes it doesn't work though...

i will do that for you. i was think of keeping on a red trap on as well as carolina rigged plastics and a jerkbait. Never fished here before and want to try and put in on the north end to fish some shallower warm water and grass. Thanks for the help and anymore that can be given.

I just spent 3 days fishing Little Caney, I caught some nice fish on the edge of the creek in 12' and the creek drops off to 20'. I caught most of my fish on Black/black blue Jigs & Paca Chunks on the cloudy days and Watermelon red and Green Pumpkin on the sunny day. One of the local guys caught some fish on Jerk baits off the island near Hideaway Harbor. From Hideaway Harbor going north the creeks were muddy.

Hideaway Harbor is a good spot in Little Caney, $5.00 ramp fee and I don't think you have to worry about your vehicle while you're fishing. They also have tent camping $25 a night with Water and Elect which covers ramp fee. It's not the most senic place to camp but it is convenient to the ramp.
