Man o man what a WORK-OUT day!! I talked to Matt Thursday and Matt said he "pray" the incredible catching streak will last for us cuz it has been four straight phenominal days!! I told Matt, hey I pray too and we will have a blast no matter what as we both knew Friday's weather will be wet, windy and potentially wild with the passing storms and all , lol!

We left holiday at 8am with moderate N wind and drizzle and planning to fish for an hr and then come in to pick up Austin at 9 since he's driving all the way from West Texas. Caught fish right off the bat at the first spot. Here is the first fatty boated on the hot rod


Then Austin called at 8:30am asking us to stop catching and go pick him up!! So we left em biting, headed back in to Holiday. And being the nice guy that I am, I gave Austin the "hot rod" and then Austin went on a tear of boating bigguns after bigguns!!!



Then we all got into them GOOD before the North winds picked up at 10am.




....two rods landed two fatties!!!


Between 10 - 12:30 we fished at two protected coves and caugth 20 bigguns at one and about a dozen sandies at the other while waiting, praying for the wind to cooperate. At 12:30 our prayers were answered and the wind was manageble and I asked Matt lets go back out to the timbers. Matt threw out two drift socks and the GPS is showing .5 mph, the storms moved out, the sun came out....and I told Matt this drift is gonna be GOOD and Matt nod his head in agreement, lol
And boy we drifted for over 3 hrs of non stop catching!!!! Wow!!! It doesnt get any better than that!!

WOW, what a day boat ride back in with the superstar Matt Cartwright. We all WORKED OUT!!!

Water temp 51 degrees, catching depth from 46ft to even as shallow as 23ft at the protected cove! Winds 7-15 mph North.Total count was some where between 150+ to 999

We didnt boated any double digits today cuz the winds made it tought to fish at Matt's super secret monster fish spot. Hey Matt I will use that as an excuse hehehe. But there were abt ten fish that went 8 to 9 solid pounds!!! HAWGs!!!!

Yeah, today's high is only 40 and the brutal North winds will be...brutal I would advise everyone not to fish today

Oh yeah, yesterday was Blake's 13th birthday so we kept all the fish and asked Matt to come in early and SCALE all of our fishes. Matt is an awesome fish scaler, FYI.

Hey Austin, I invited Pastor Pete so he can have a relaxing day away from the church and the daily never ending human issues and I also asked to keep it low key, lol, since he's only in charge of 1,400 families at our church/parish and he works from sunlight to way past sunset, on his labor of love job. He is out of his element whenever he gets to fish with my buddies. But tell you what, I truly look up to him. Anyone who can keep an audience of 5000+ people in full attention for 3 hrs and is in high demand right now in other states and also other parts of the world. The Bishop of Dallas even praises him. So he's not typical feller to us homies...

Todd I think it really great that you take your pastor fishing from time to time. I am sure you will be rewarded in the long run for doing that. GREAT! outing for y'all for sure

Todd thanks for the pics you sent me while I was at work. It made the day go by easier. It looks like Matt had ANOTHER AWESOME DAY, and I am glad your crew was in on it.

Maybe one of these Friday's that I am off we can hook up and take Matt out.

Actually Gene, It wasn't too bad. I don't think I ever once got cold. Wind blown, yes - but not cold!

We did have a great day out there yesterday! It just blows me away how good "Lakeguide" is! Once for the memory books, that is for sure!

Todd what a great report! When I woke up Friday morning was praying you all would be able to go out and told Kathy to pray too! Then when texted you and heard back and started seeing pictures was so happy for you all. Man nothing can compare to what's going on at Twok right now. So glad everyone was blessed to catch fish especially with the weather challenge. Excellent that your Pastor and Austin got to go. I know they loved it. Matt- I heard back from the Southwest Outdoors Report people and they wrote, "Yes Matt is a great guide." I wanted to write back, "Tell me something I don't know- now get him on your show!" Here's to the streak continuing and a full calendar. If you love to fish you'd be crazy to not get in on this... Happy Fishing.

Well Gene, Austin went to the back of the boat to "wiggle wiggle" and I overheard him gripping abt taking off 10 layers, while Pat was holding his purse? I think he had on 12 layers when we fished on your boat Gene? So hes making progress But since it was wet early on, Austin did complaint about a bad hair day...

Pink, chartreuse, pepper flukes were all catching!! But the pepper from Moes I had on probably caught 100+ fish and still going. Talking about durible plastic

Dam nice report guys! Mat u da man as usual. I haven't been fishing in over 3 weeks. Every weekend some kinda el Nina / el niño bull carp comes through. I'm starting to get upset! Got the report from Austin first hand , and boy was I jealous and proud at the same time.

Sounds like its time for a huge party trip with all the Hubbard buddies! We might even need 2 or 3 boats to pull that one off!

Mike Luv I feel your pain on the el nino messing up the weekends. That is the reason I finally broke down and took a day off during the week. Hated to burn a day of vacation before spring and summer BUT!! I had to get out there one more time because like you said the weather and the weekends are not in sync. See you soon

Lucky I have a great boss. All I had to do was call him and ask if i could change my day off. He's a great Boss!

Good seeing you and your "cigar" uncle, Bryon. Too bad you guys had to leave early at noon cuz the North winds did cooperate between 12:30 and 3:30. It did picked back up and we got sprayed on the ride back in.

That was an awefully long drive for you guys. Hopefuly the next time the nasty Oklahoma winds dont follow you to Texas Yep the temp around 50, and calmer water is a "perfect storm" for great deadsticking!!
